Default Geeh I must be getting old!

I make mistakes in life once in a while, but this is a first!

The other day I was on one of our smaller highways posted at 80km (approx. 50 mph) and I was behind 5 or 6 vehicles doing about 82 kmh. Well I pass one here and one there as the traffic and road allowed and then I got the green light for the last three, so I did what I had to do and passed them all. Well I was all happy with myself that I was no longer behind a string of cars and trucks, well I was up until the time I looked in my side mirror and saw the dreaded flashing blue and red lights on my tail. So I pulled over and took my medicine like a man, he said he clocked me at 121 in an 80.....121 is like doing 72 - 73 mph? Either way the officer dropped it back on his own accord to a 110 in an 80, which is still a 4 pointer @ $220. When the officer was leaving my window he said to me, "funny I don't often ticket guys for passing me on the highways, women yes, but not guys"! I laughed and said, "I was wondering where the heck you came from", then we both laughed, he said to slow it down and have a good day.

I would have NEVER gotten this ticket if the jokers in front of me were just following MY game plan. How long has it been you ask, well lets say it's been a while since I've been on the Post Office wall. But if the truth be known, I have now officially have had my licence for more years then the number of times I've lost it for speeding. Thank God for curse control , because without it, forget the lead foot, I've got a skid of lead on the throttle.

GETTIN'~????!!! Boy - you ARE old~! Can't see the speedometer OR understand why the cars in FRONT OF YOU are doin' a little UNDER the speed limit ~ Sheesh~! That officer should've REVOKED your license! ..............

Oh, well....look at it this way - you got ONE ticket for ALL of the past times you DIDN'T get caught. (That always makes ME feel better, anyway. HA!!!)

BTW ~ "curse control", eh....? There's a concept for ya. HA!! More like needin' to BE in control ~

Garett.... just imagine for a moment the alternative to getting old...... It ain't pretty or pleasant!!!!!!! Age gracefully and within your ability level....... In other words, slow down and smell the roses, let the young bucks fly azz down the highway and get the tickets.......

Ummm...no. He said more women pass him speeding than men. Of course he should ticket them. The way you word it you make it sound like a discriminatory situation which it's not. If you pass him speeding, regardless of race, gender, creed, or color of eyes, you should be ticketed.

Might want to reread that, still looks to me like he said that he is more likely to give women a ticket for passing on a highway than men.

I agree with you however that it shouldn't matter who the person is, a ticket is a ticket.

Methinks you're spidey sense is on the fritz. Get that looked at right away or you'll start driving like an old fart and have uncontrolable urges to head toward Fla. every October.

Itís not so much the idea of getting old itís more of to find the time to slow down enough to smell the roses that has me interpreting the drive as an interlude between destinations.......canít smell no pertty roses when my head is stuck up some vehicleís tail pipe! Besides, I donít seem to find comfort in driving behind others that donít give a sh!t about anyone else on the roadway!

Yes it was my interpretation as well the officer was indicating that guys rarely get pulled over for passing the police only because the guys have a tendency to spot them before they commit the act. In my case the unmarked curser just blended into the pack of vehicles I was attempting to pass....I wasnít paying attention to any particular vehicle in the pack, I was paying attention to what it was I was doing.

Ah well, at any rate the fine is paid and life will go on with or without the 4 points on my driving abstract........I just need to be watching what it is that I am passing in the future so this sort of thing doesn't happen a second time.

121 mph! What were you driving? Amazing how fast cars can go these days. My 1st car q 1975 Chevy Malibu would start to shake and smimmy at 90 and to break 100 you were taking your life in your hands. I've seen 110 in my previous ride a WRX without fuss and the new ride a mazda speed 6 will top 140 - havent tried yet.
