Default Jeep Finally Quit, Next vehicle...must tow

My Jeep finally blew up yesterday and its time for a new car. My only real concerns are with $ and I want it to be able to tow at least 7,000#.

I really like the Ford F150, F250 and Expeditions, but might be able to get a good deal on Dodges through a family friend, so maybe a 1500 also. I dont like the Dodge SUV so they are all out.

Since this will be my everyday car I dont think the F250 is practical, so that leaves the F150 and Expedition and Dodge 1500.

I've always had trucks up until my Wrangler and really like having a trucks but also like the extra "inside" room a SUV provides. Just wondering everyones thoughts and any information you can provide. Thanks

If you dont need a bed, go for a GMC Yukon Denali, they will tow what you need.

I just bought a new 06 dodge 1500 megacab for $25K. Couldn't beat the price, and there is more room in the back than in my wifes explorer. It will tow around 8900 lbs. too.

go with the dodge.. I have an 2004 1500 quad cab with the hemi.. Paid like 25k with taxes etc... They are having nice rebates now and if you go on line to ebay you can find lots of new ones on there for real cheap from dodge dealers that offer free shipping etc...

First of all, that's a Diesel with a stuck injector as a result of EPA guidelines that will affect ALL diesels and remember diesels are typically made other manufacturers like CUMMINS (Dodge) or Isuzu (Chevy). Second, Ford has a recall and isn't brushing it under the carpet, it will happen to all of them, Ford is just the first to implement to the stricter EPA guidelines.

I wish I could say the same for Dodge or Chebie...

Personally, I would look at the Ford, Nissan or Toyota ($$$) - I like Dodge too, I just think their attention to detail is, uh... Lacking..

That issue effected 37,000 ford trucks. I would go with a new silverado or a quad cab dodge since there were giving 10k back at one point in incentives.

Most 1/2 ton trucks these days will give you that 7,000 tow rating your looking for. I have an '05 Nissan Titan, but I only have 10,250 miles on it so I can't comment on reliability. But it has a ton of torque. When I chose my vehicle, I had constraints. First, it had to be a crew cab (two sons and their getting big fast). Second, it had to fit in my smallish garage (but that's about to change with a new house on the way). Third, it had to be able to tow at least 7,500. That brought the choice down to the Titan and the F-150. The Titan blew the F-150 away in the torque catagory. And when it comes to towing, it's all about torque.

Here in Southwestern, PA, PennDot uses alot of salt on the roads. The salt causes vehicles to corrode. You get a feel for what vehicles are the most corrosion resistant. My neighbor just got rid of a '94 F-150 that was a complete pile of rust. Meanwhile, my '94 Corrolla looks like brand new. A close friend of mine has a 2000 F-150 that has serious rust issues. Just a couple more years and it will be ready for the junk yard. He says he'd never buy another Ford. Around here, the GMC/Chevy products are the ones that seem to stay the newest looking, the longest. Meanwhile, the only new looking Fords you see around here, are the new ones.
