Default Hello to all from Irmo, SC

Hey guys, and gals, I just moved from Beaufort, SC where I was introduced to saltwater fishing back to Irmo, SC. I miss being right next to the ocean and the great fishing that came with it. My dad suggested this site to me and I've found it not only a great time killer but very educational. Looking forward to maybe meet a few of yall for a beer and maybe some fishing. I still go down to Beaufort every couple weekends, including this one. If anyone wants needs a fishin partner this fri/sat just let me know!

Welcome aboard . . . my Grandfather told me "never kill time" . . . life is too short to miss a moment of it . . . as I get older I believe him more and more

I know how the term killing time is usually used, but I just ffelt I needed to make this little point

Glad you are planning on cming to the OBX Fun-n-Fish

Hello from White Rock SC ( 5 miles from Irmo ). Try lake Murray for a fishing fix. It isn't salt water but it is close to home. Striper action is getting good right now.

Welcome Steve.

You'll have a great time at the OBX Fun-n-Fish. I read you're previous post about "trying it out" before you commit. I guarantee after the first tuna, you will have to redirect your entire life to revolve around fishing. See you there, I'm riding with Darrell Sunday also.

I grew up on lake murray but haven't been striper fishing in at least 5-6 years. Glad to hear there are some locals on here. I live in new friarsgate, where about are you?

I hear the tuna are excellent fighters........my only real fighting experience is was a 35lb amberjack. Now I've also heard they are excellent fighters. Which would you say would win in a tug of war contest??

I don't feel TOO bad about living in Irmo, afterall, Lake Murray is only about a 3 minute drive from my house where there is excellent striper fishing. Girlfriend lives in Beaufort on a 6,000 acre plantation so it's like I've got my own resort when I go down and visit. Not too shabby if ya ask me

Oh yeah, did I mention it's also on the water?

Cool, not far at all. If you ever want to wet a line just let me know. I work for SCE&G and I'm a member of Pine Island on Lake Murray. Don't know if you've ever been out there, but the facilities are pretty nice.

I don't know, I plan on only catching 60LB tuna's. They'll pull you out of the boat

Seriously, tuna and amberjack pull hard, but definately give the edge to the tuna, they last one heckuva lot longer, and swim more erratically. They make you chase them, then head straight down for the last few minutes of their life.

Haha, thanks! I just started working for a nuclear plant and so far I don't have any job duties other than following the other guys when needed. I just sit there in my cubicle and get paid.
REAL hard job

So basically I have to kill 9 hours each day.....what better way then learn about offshore fishing?!?! Thanks for the welcome, I'm already signed up for the OBX Fun-n-Fish 2007 trip. I'm sooooo stoked about getting my first tuna/wahoo/mahi/marlin. I can dream about that last one, right?!
