Default DLR or Sammy Hagar / Van Halen

Well hail far,

Another guy started a thread about Bon Scott and Brian Johnson so why not?

Hagar/DLR? Me? "DLR" Love Hagar but better solo artist.

Best Album By Either? Me? "1984"

Best Song? Me? "Me Wise Magic", DLR post Hagar!

Is Van Halen down for the count? Only if they cut another album with Gary Cherone!

DLR was a better entertainer (as he once said "Sammy throws a party, I am the Party"). However the Red Rocker made them a better band. Best Album was 5150. Too many great songs with both

DLR and SH went on tour a few years ago. According to the forums of tour at the time and what my buddies (who were bigger DLR fans) told me (a Van Hagar fan) that after the show that they thought Hagar blew away DLR.. They hated to admit it but they said they couldnt argue against it.

DLR's a clown but he kicks Hagar's a$$ as part of VH. They went from bad boys to top 40 pop w/ Sammy.

Today, it's no contest though. Like Chris Rock said about the old Michael Jackson vs. Prince comparisons. "Guess what, Prince won." Sammy won life's race. But DLR was a better show man back in the day.

Sammy is the man, saw the two band show a few years ago at Meadowbrook N.H. Dave had completely lost all his high note stuff, and of course, forgot some words. His guitar player was better than Sammys, but overall, Sammy smoked em by a long shot.

I guess I'm the other guy who started the acca dacca thing to learn that only australia call AC/DC acca dacca. Man I am shocked, I really am.

Now onto VH, eddie rules, David lee rock's, or is that roth.

I like 5150 but there the best albums are women & children first and fair warning.
.............sail away with someones daughter......better take women and children first.......

2 stroke or 4 stroke -

Each have their proper application...

I really don't think VH would have gotten where they are without Diamond Dave.

They went from being a hard rock band when they had DLR as their front man, to a bubble gum pop band when they had Sammy Hagar.

Hail boys, talking about DLR and Hagar is like talking about bad sex! It's all good!!!

I can remember a buddy of mine who was a drummer in a rock band in the mid 70's. He came to my beat up old trailer on the lake with a brand new album from a brand new band with some guy who was supposed to be really good on lead guitar.

We slapped that chunk of vinyl on the turntable and I cranked up all 10 watts of my J C Penny stereo with an 8-track recorder, and we gave 'em a listen. After hearing Eddie rip off "Eruption", Lynn looked at me and said "What's so great about this guy?" LOL little did we know what was going to become of that!

I hate to admit it, but I have never seen Van Halen in concert with either lead singer. I saw Sammy Hagar several times BEFORE he went with Van Halen, and I saw DLR in Lakeland, FL in the late 80's. Dave still had it back then, but as many of you have pointed out, he looks like a poster child for aids and old farts these days!

I remember hating to hear that DLR left Van Halen, and I remember hating to hear Hagar took his place because I was used to rocking out to both! Short of Balance and whatever the hell that last one was with Cherone, Van Halen rocked!!!

I'd love to see them get back together with Hagar AND DLR and give us a farewell tour with BOTH!!! No doubt those boys left a lot of good stuff in the garage. The two songs off the Best of VH Volume 1 are proof of that where DLR is concerned.

Who knows why Hagar left, it was very obvious why DLR did, but the fans took it in the shorts in the end. I reckon all you new kids will just have to keep playing your Dad's worn out VH CD's.

I just hope Hagar or DLR doesn't introduce a new rap album! I just might have to burn some things if they do!

You here about Wolfgang Van Halen (Eddies teenage kid) is now bass player for VH? Planning a tour and maybe an album with DLR. Read about it in Rolling Stone. The kid's supposed to be awesome on bass.

DLR for sure. Not a fan of Van Hagar. They totally lost the edge w/o him.

We'll just have to wait until Eddie gets out of rehab again for the tour to start. Pretty pathetic Ed was in rehab and did not make it to the rock and roll hall of fame awards. His old buddy Dave bailed on the awards to. It was great to see my man Sammy. Weather solo or with a band, Sammy is a much larger talant than DLR.

DLR much better vocalist and entertainer. More pop stuff with Sammy, but still some good songs. I think Eddie cranked it up better when DLR was with them.

Get the "Best of Both Worlds" CD, has most of the best stuff from both
