Default What kind of snake?

In the backyard yesterday, there is a creek with running water in the backyard. Thinking just a common water snake?
In North Alabama.

Where I come from there's only 2 kinds of snakes - dead and not-yet-dead. That looks to be the not-yet-dead kind but its not hard to convert that to the other kind.

Yep harmless Garter snake, about the only danger it can present is making someone that dreadfully fears snakes see it and then injure themselves via reaction.

Interesting you get those. I haven't seen one here in awhile. However, for some reason I get a couple coral snakes every year in my yard. I won't let the coral live!

It's an irrational fear one that's hard to cure. My wife has the same thing with spiders and it drives me nuts.

That is a scarlet king snake, not a coral.

Guys, read my post. I am very aware that it's a king snake. I thought it's interesting that he has one and I haven't seen one where I live but I get coral snakes a couple times a year.
