Default Any place you can tour the inside of a WW II B-17 ?

Does anyone know where you can see the inside a B-17 that was the same as how they were during WW II ?

No desire to actually go up in one as a passenger. Just go inside one on the ground.

I can't explain why, but I've developed a late in life fascination with WW II.

commemorative air force has one or so they tour the country with. Been in it a few times, and flown on their B25. Think there may be one at Fantasy of Flight in FL as well.

Check tico airport in Titusville fl. They restore all kinds of cool old planes. We did tours of a bunch of them but I don't know the names of them.

Also look at the calendar for the EAA's B-17. My friend was one of the lucky guys that was one of their B17 pilots. My son and I were lucky enough to fly in it many times, some times as the only passengers.
You do not have to book a flight to go through it . they might charge a few bucks for the ground tour, I don't recall. Here is the calendar.

I went in one at an air show, definitely smaller inside than I thought. Worth doing!

There was some sort of flight museum not too far from you in Horsham. I went there years ago while on a business trip.

I don't remember everything they had but might want to check it out.

Collier foundation used to have one that toured around that you could climb around inside (til it crashed).

EAA has one that tours.

Kermit Weeks had one in his museum (near Orlando) that you could climb through (museum operation changed, so I don't know if it is still accessible).

Most of the ones in museums don't let the average joe inside them.

You really need to make a trip to NOLA to visit the National WWII Museum. And yes they have many planes there that you can tour. They even have an actual PT Boat they restored and you can go for rides on it.

Hello.

Wright Patterson Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio has B-17 Memphis Belle on permanent display, as well as many other air and space craft from history.

It would be about a 4 hour drive for you ... all interstate.

This....

My great uncle was killed in WWII flying a B-17. My dad did a lot of research for this group many years back when it was first started. It's a great way to spend an afternoon.

Yeah, they built subs there, but I wasn’t aware they built B-17s.

The Museum of the Air Force outside Wright Patterson AF base has probably the best collection of vintage warbirds in the world. Several are available for walkthrough tours of the inside, although I’m not sure if they have a B-17 set up for that. They do let you walk through all the retired Air Force Ones, which is pretty damn cool.

The Mighty 8th Air Force Museum is Savannah is a must visit for every American IMHO! Great visuals and historical artifacts on display with many planes and their memorial garden will bring tears to your eyes, already planning our next visit and all WW2 volunteers working there for you to interact with, just great stuff!!!

Who was the Pilot? One of my USAF friends flew one for a while.

You can take flights in a B-17 at Yankee Air Museum near between Detroit and Ann Arbor MI. Very distinct sound when it fly's over.
