Default Costa Del Mar alternatives?

I’ve had around 10 pairs of CDMs. I liked most of them. One of my last pair are the permits with the terrible rubber nose piece that falls off. I’ve had it “repaired” once for a nominal fee - I am pretty sure I paid shipping. Well it fell off again while offshore and the rubber nose piece is adrift on the Gulf Stream. So I finally was able to go through their new warranty request process. First thing they want is a picture of a receipt I don’t have. Then they want pictures of various parts of the glasses. New process is a PIA in comparison to the old one. Anyhow, I am anticipating a fee request since I don’t have my receipt (even though they already serviced this pair once for free). I’m not keeping a receipt archive for my sunglasses so I am wondering what my alternatives are.

are there any good sunglass companies out there with good customer service who don’t require you to present a receipt? What are you guys wearing? I am looking for some quality glasses.

I had the same issue with Costa, costs over $100 to replace lenses. I tried Ocean waves, the nose pads kept falling off so i'm done with those. I like the smith optics guides choice until i scratched the lenses and they will not repair them. I got those for 79$ so no big deal but replacing them is over $200. Sun Clouds have got me by the last few months but my next pair will be Maui Jims.

I switched from costa to rheos. They float and are cheap comparatively.

Maui with glass lenses. I prefer metal frame with spring hinges myself.

check Costco. They have them for about 1/2 price for some varieties.

I really like my Smith Optics sunglasses for fishing, but can't speak for their warranty or customer service since I have never had to use it.

I use Unsinkables. They float and have a one time, no questions asked, replacement guarantee. I haven’t used it yet on any of my glasses in 3 years.

I sent 3 different pairs of blackfins into costa over the past year due to the rubber trim pealing off around the nose(I’m a “fashionable” kind of guy and like different frame colors). They asked for a picture of receipts but like you I don’t hang onto them. Submitted the pictures of the glasses without the receipts and all three were approved for warranty with no issue at all. Didn’t have to pay any fees or shipping. They emailed me a prepaid mailing slip, put em in a box and sent em off. Wait time ranged from 3-6 weeks.

Cool good to know. I am hopeful, but looking for alternatives in case that hassle me about my receipt. I’ll likely stay with costa if they honor their warranty.

After many pairs of Maui's having problems with the lamination on the lens going bad, I did all this same research to find a good replacement.

Ended up with a $25 pair of Solarcomfort polarized wraparounds that weigh nothing and have I never looked back on my decision. Found them on the rack at a CVS.....

I am somewhat of a sunglass snob, I like sunglasses. Right now I am rotating 3 Costas, three Ray Bans, and four mauis. I can tell you the Maui's are leaps and bounds better than the rest, build quality, optics, warranty, get some Mauis and dont look back.

Abolutely agree. I've tried them all, and MJ's with glass lens(pick your style) are the most comfortable, face friendly, clearest, glare reducing polarized glasses I have ever bought. Lastly, MJ's customer service is light years ahead of it's competitors. Man, these guys bend over backwards to replace a lens or two, or anything else if you need it done, for a one time flat fee. Outstanding customer service is the norm for these guys, along with producing the best product(for me), I have ever used.

I switched from Costas to Maui Jim years ago.
