Default Anybody here a Safe Cracker?

Just came into possession of an early 1900's safe that used to be my grandfathers. We thought we knew the combo but apparently not. The safe is a Cary Safe made in Buffalo NY. I've Googled it and have found anything from "You'll have to pay someone to haul it off" to "A good locksmith can open it without drilling".

Anybody here have any experience with an older safe and no combo?

I opened a friend's safe once with a stethoscope....I really think it was more luck than skill. I could hear the tumblers click into place as I turned the dial, though. It was an older safe....early 1900's. It was also from Buffalo.
Give it a whack...you have nothing to lose.

Make sure you are present when the safe is opened, there could be wealth in there beyond your wildest dreams........like 10,000 shares of Ford Motor Co.

How "safe" is the stuff inside if you can pick it up and shake it?

Sorry, I should have put a smiley for sarcasm. The damed thing must weigh 600 pounds.

Check your local police department logs to find out who has been arrested in recent months for a bank heist and I bet they can get into it with their eyes closed

Try my safe combination first: 1-2-3-4-5

Dang! I slipped and told everyone...now I have to change it. (And my home alarm, internet passwords, bank account pin, bicycle lock, gym locker....)

I tried a stethoscope once but all I heard was: thump,thump..........thump,thump.........thump,thu mp.......thump,thump. Didn't seem to help at all.
