Default Used Chevy

I have a friend moving overseas and wants to unload his 2001 Z71. Its a nice truck with the 5.3 V8, leather, extended cab, hard tonneau cover. Its in really good condition but has 106k on it already.

How many miles are these engines usually good for?

What type of major maintenace can I expect within the next couple years?

How much do you think it's worth? KBB says $11k.

The truck has a lot of life left and your buddy paid a lot more for his miles in depreciation than you will yours. If you have the cash, buy it. If he changed the oil and maintained it good, that's a good buy. Go price a new Z71. The new one's are depreciation monsters. I would be willing to bet that truck has at least another 100k left on it trouble free if it was maintained.

Most of those miles are highway and relatively light use. Oil has been changed regularly. The only mod is a throttle body spacer.

I'd be paying cash and less than 10k.

I have a 1999 Tahoe with 115000 miles on it. It looks new and runs great. I have not had any problems except standard maintenance which I do religiously. I plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off which I imagine is not anytime soon.

100k is not a lot of miles these days.......on anything. Couple of guys in our sales force run basically the same trucks, a few are pushing 300k with not so nice daily use on them.
