Default The New Navy Pledge

"I pledge to advocate for and acknowledge all lived experiences and intersectional identities of every sailor in the Navy. I pledge to engage in ongoing self-reflection, education and knowledge sharing to better myself and my communities. I pledge to be an example in establishing healthy, inclusive and team-oriented environments. I pledge to constructively share all experiences and information gained from activities above to inform the development of Navy-wide reforms."

That's one way to get rid of those pesky enlisted seamen and naval officers.

Just skimmed the PDF, but what I didn't see is "Lethality". Seems like since the Navy is a branch of the military, maximizing lethality would be priority number 1 for ALL their endeavors.

I (state your name) having been appointed an officer in the United States Army in the grade of second lieutenant do solemnly swear(affirm) to support and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies foreign and domestic that i will bear true faith and allegiance to the same. that I take this obligation freely without mental reservation or purpose of evasion and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office of which I am about to enter. So help me God.

Worked for me. Took the enlisted one in 86 this one in 89. Still seems good.

The PDF isn't about lethality. It's about combating discrimination. Why turn this forum into another Fox News outlet?

The pledge comes as a result of Task Force Navy One, which was formed in June to “address the issues of racism, sexism and other destructive biases and their impact on naval readiness,” a Navy press release said.

“As a Navy — uniform and civilian, active and reserve - we cannot tolerate discrimination or racism of any kind. We must work to identify and eliminate individual and systemic racism within our force,” the chief of naval operations, Adm. Mike Gilday, said of the task force. “That is why we are standing up Task Force One Navy, which will work to identify and remove racial barriers and improve inclusion within our Navy.”
"The U.S. Navy task force created to “combat discrimination” in the military branch suggested that all sailors take a pledge to “acknowledge all lived experiences and intersectional identities.”

Notice the word "suggested"?

Wouldn't you like to know how discrimination has affected the lethality of the service? How the service's current policies and procedures have allowed discrimination to become so rampant as to affect the services lethality?
One of the key pieces they want to look at on page 5 is the naming of ships, buildings, and streets. By page 6 they are talking about diverse organizations outperform other organizations at either 15 or 35 percent more, while citing a study that look at the financial returns of 366 business in Latin America, UK, Canada, and the US. Financial returns compared to 5.56 and TLAMs hitting bad guys in the face are not exactly apples to apples.

Diversity tends towards hiring of people based on certain characteristics rather than qualifications.
In our military, I want people who are the best at what they do, not put into place to satisfy quotas.

Meanwhile, the Chinese are on the verge of deploying biologically enhanced “super soldiers”.

Exactly. Identity politics is shredding this country to pieces.

Who could read that and not see the idiocy in it. The armed forces are about serving and protecting the United States and our constitution. Anybody who has actually read it will know that by definition we are not racist or sexist. When you have to say it.... Then your entire moral character is questionable imo

Default Navy

Glad my time is over and done with in the military. With all the diversity and bowing to all things that offend people how do we identify adversaries? Throw the weapons away and hug everybody on the battlefield? God bless our guys and girls in the military nowadays that have to deal with this crap.

How does a "pledge" become "suggested"??? Which IS it?

The "pledge" reads more like a Boy Scout Oath or similar.

As a Navy vet, I find this kinda' crap ... CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I served in the late '60's-early '70's and we NEVER had any problems with folks not being respected for who they were - PERIOD!

The pussification of the U.S. military will NEVER work!

Regards,

I'd like this line added to their oath:

WE PROMISE TO TRY AND NOT KEEP RUNNING INTO OTHER SHIPS BY ACCIDENT!!

Maybe The Village People wrote the new pledge.
They wrote a song about it. Like to hear it? Hear it goes.
