Default Police pepper spray 9 year old girl. Good shoot?

I am glad I'm not LEO. I probably would have skipped pepper spray and gone straight to "ride the lightning".

I would be curious what attempts were made to deescalate the situation before taking the girl into custody.

Nothing like escalating a situation that could have been handled with a little common sense.

All the way bad. She was restrained and in the car. They’ll be fired. The mom that was cussing at her and trying to put hands on her will sue. And win. Mom should have rode the lightning.

A toot of spray should teach the misbehaving brat to show respect and have accountability....so the kid will grow up perhaps with a chance of learning not to mess with the police.
But these days people don't want to teach kids respect and accountability....it's too bad.

Unfortunately, it’s too late for that young girl. The damage is done and too extensive.

Where is the common sense in a 9 yo that wants to kill herself and her mother ?

If she escalated to that point, what calms her down?

I don't expect a 9 yo to have common sense. Police I expect to exercise some common sense.

Did you see how the mom was treating her? The little girl was saying whatever came to her mind to get away from her. That’s a 9 year old child, in handcuffs, in the back seat of a cruiser. She is restrained. What else needed to happen, what was the point of spraying her?? The mom on the other hand seemed to deserve it. I am all for punishing a child, even with the leather I grew up on but what happened there was stupid. If you are a police officer and need any type of extras to handle a 9 year old you seriously need to reconsider your career choice.

I saw an officer grab ahold of the mom when she tried to put her hands on her child. The child was kicking at the cops and wouldn't put her legs in the car. If they would have grabbed her legs and tossed her in, they would be accused of unnecessary force. Same thing if the cop that sprayed would have just grabbed her arm and pulled her in.
What should they have done with a "suicidal" 9 yr old who wants to kill her mom as well??? That was a lose/lose situation all around.

If two officers cant handle a 9 year old then need to find another career. Stop acting like a child....I am a child.

First time I looked at the video I said that that brat deserved that s**t. But you have to really think...the kid is 9. 9 years old. And how the mother spoke to the kid, obvious not a good parent. Do I have the answers? No. But do I think pepper spraying a troubled and distressed 9 yr old in the back of a police car solved any problems? No.

I would be more curious about who taught her that behaving like that was OK.

whatever the child said after being cuffed and placed in a cruiser is completely irrelevant. 9. NINE. holy smokes.

It’s very unfortunate these kids don’t have a chance. If your around these neighbors you would know. It’s not the 9 year old fault she was raised that way
