Default Google Maps has my address in the wrong location

I am in the process of building a new home. The land was subdivided about 10 years ago and I purchased one piece about 18 months ago. There never was an address assigned to this land. In Oct. 2019 the city of Tavares Fla. assigned me an address. It is not similar to the addresses on either side of me. If you put my address into Google Maps it shows the closest intersection which is about a mile away. I have sent the correct information through the “ report a problem” and “ add a missing place” on Google Maps. It has never been corrected. I do this once a month.

I had the same issue with Apple Maps. I was able to finally get a hold of a real person and they had me send a photo with location services turned on. Problem was fixed within 24 hours.

Have any of you had this issue and know how to fix?

Thank you.

Submit a correction request right from the Google map webpage. Much easier to do from a web browser on a PC, and I believe that you have to have a Google account login

Your town/county is publishing inaccurate geo data. Make sure the town/county corrects it. They should have a GIS office you can contact.

I really didn't think this mattered, but I know I had monitored smoke alarm go off while I was away and they rolled the Fire Dept to the wrong address. I thought it was funny, my neighbor not so much. Just a defective detector, but if it was a real emergency, that would have sucked.

Good luck getting mail and packages delivered after you move. We moved last March into a new home/sub-division. And it took 1-2 months for deliveries to become somewhat normal. We would even place online orders and we would get notice from the company that we entered an invalid address and it had to be corrected before the order could ship.
I filled out census info online a week or two before we moved and entered our new address as they wanted the address we would be living in on April 1. I got an actual phone call from the census bureau the very next day asking me to correct my address.
You will have a very frustrating first month.

Google earth still doesn’t have us yet. If you punch in our address, it takes you to a very nearby house,(100’ away) but in a completely different neighborhood and the 2 neighborhoods are not connected.

Edit: Looked us up in Mapquest....still not there either

This is what I do once a month. Straight from the Google Map Webpage. And I do login in to my Google account. I have now submitted 11 times. Google has responded on 3 occasions saying they have looked into this and what they have is correct. There is no way to respond to this message from Google.

I went to office in person a couple of times. They said they do updates and corrections once per year. Since COVID you can only communicate by email. Not even a call. I have never received a response to my emails.

contact your council member directly, and tell them specifically you need a response on the matter. CC all the other council members. Emails are typically posted online.

What do you mean the address is unlike your neighbors? The street number should fall somewhere between the two adjacent addresses i.e., if the adjacent homes to the left and right of you are 3642 and 3688 Fishbait Rd. your house number should be any even number from 3644 to 3686. If not, ask the Tavares planning department for a new street number. I did that in Naples and it took one phone call, an emailed form and 15 minutes later it was official. But first, call the Fire Chief's office and tell them what happened with the false alarm resulting in a roll to the wrong address and ask him for a letter or email confirming that your address is out of range. That should get some attention and if not, call the mayor's office for help.

Report it to Google Maps. They’ll update your location and address on the map.

OP said he has reported the problem to Google 11 times and it still hasn’t been fixed.

Problem is, there is so much new construction and new neighborhoods, Google just can’t keep up.

This drives me nuts.

Someone put a church marker on one of my properties on Google Earth. It says one of my houses is the Community Christian Church.

I can't tell you how many folks have come around over the years looking for the church as shown on Google Earth.

This is what started the whole mess. There is not a number available between my place and the neighbors . We are even numbers and one ends in 10 and the other 12. If they just assigned me 11 all would be good. And it is worse. They have 5 digit address numbers and I was assigned a 4 digit number.

ive somewhat had experience with this situation, don’t think I can solve this but I understand that google is not going to fix this because all they do is update existing incorrect information—-it starts with the city/county planning department assigning you an address, from there it moves onto the post office department,,,once those two entities agree that you are legit and receive mail there than you can report to google maps that you are a legit address, google DONT make you legit, that’s your job as they just confirm that you are legit.

They should reassign you a 5 digit number like 12310 1/2 or 12310A. But what they should really do is reassign numbers to both you and an adjacent property to do it right. To assign you a 4 digit number between two 5 digit numbers is nuts. I think your best friends in this will be the fire and police departments making this a life safety issue with the building dept.
