This is a very recent article from an interview with the new CDC director. Now that shortages are no longer an issue, the reason being given is that they would be too uncomfortable, restrict breathing, and that healthy people would grow tired of them. (Yet Fauci and others are now recommending two cloth masks, which sounds pretty uncomfortable to me).

BTW your favorite masking politicians are wearing two masks now, an N95 with a cloth mask over it. (see video below)

https://abc13.com/health/should-you-...ctor/10001555/
I do not listen to anything that comes out of the CDC. They have shared very misleading information and flip-flopped throughout the entire pandemic. A joke of an organization that should be gutted, and no political influence should ever dictate vital information shared with Americans.

That said, "the reason being given is that they would be too uncomfortable, restrict breathing, and that healthy people would grow tired of them." what a crock of BS. I have no issues and carry a full face, half face, and disposable. different tools for different purposes.

I wear N100/P100, some times eye protection, no n95.

For what its worth, my dad tested positive just sfter new years. Ambulance service in my small home town wouldnt carry him to mcv hospital in rva where we wanted him to go. I triple masked, he masked, cracked windows and drove him an hour to Richmond. Spent night with him in ER, wearing triple masks. I just thought it was better than one. Turns out hunch may have been accurate. Tested negative 10 days later after self isolating. to some extent. Mcv icu, where my dad spent over 2 weeks fighting for his life, is at 98% capacity as of today. Thank god my dad got out this week. He will he in rehab for st least a couple weeks. Make fun and joke about covid and the true experts advice, no morons it's not a global conspiracy to inconvenience you or make gobs of money for certain unpredictable industries that have profited, but i just hope it doesnt end up affecting you or someone you love.

Glad your father is doing well. But for everyone who has a story like yours there are other complete opposite. My coworker, wife, sister in law all get it same time. All had been around their brother, brother negative. Coworkers father lives with the brother who had taken three tests all negative, never Iíll but the father gets it. Only way brother knows is he had to pick him up after a fall, drive home to the hospital and wait with him in the car (it is winter and cold as heck so now I does down). No mask between being with the coworker et al who got it or with the father who got it from going out and about with his mask on. All that close contact with all of them, no make, no positive no sickness nothing. Did the no mask make him not get it then? Guys 84 year olds father goes into hospital is out after 5 days and feels better than my coworker did after a month. Coworker was very stringent mask wearer, still gets sick and who knows where from.

Funny flying was mentioned. I caught pneumonia about 16 years ago while flying to a ski trip. A couple were coughing up a storm 6 rows behind me. 3 days later I was coughing yellow and spiking a fever. From that time I always try to sit in the last row and Clorox wiped my seat. Got some funny looks from a few flight attendants back before COVID when I was flying frequently. If I were to fly today, I would use a N-95 and face shield and might consider doubling up.
We have been wiping down everything we can touch in an airplane seat for years but it was more about those nasty stomach viruses.
Most of us are not hugging covid patients, we stand away from people and wash our hands a lot.

They were likely putting surgical masks over N95 not for additional filtration but to keep their N95 clean from contamination. At one point docs/nurses in some hospitals were lucky to get one fresh n95 per month. Then it became per week. Now its per day at most places. Scary!

These threads make me lose faith in 50% of humanity ( maybe more like 70% on THT), apathy and ignorance abound.

Iím no expert by any means but that last image I looked at comparing the three lungs I would say a 10 year old took. Lots of noise on it it looks like to me. Interesting how they figure an asymptomatic person can have lung damage and not know it. I mean if my lungs were damaged Iím fairly sure Iíd know it. But Iím no Dr and I havenít stayed at a holiday inn in years so.

My asymptotic 18yr old has lingering heart issues after Covid. Pretty athletic kid (football & lacrosse), but a few issues now that will have to be watched.

I think I Dr Fauci has fli flopped on the masks again.....doubling up does not work.

it’s a joke to watch the experts fumble around like a bunch of keystone cops in a comedy show.

Dr. Fauci is about as credible as any of the TV doctors.

Which is basically what he is. Here's a more credible doctor:
