Default Friends of Bailey........

To all of the friends of Bailey that knew and loved her as much as we did…………….

This past Friday afternoon Laura and I let Bailey go to Heaven. Over the past few weeks her health had declined and I could tell that her pain was getting worse. It’s almost as though she was telling me that it was time to go. This has been a most painful experience and will continue to be so for many weeks.

I’ve attached this particular photo because it shows Bailey at one of her favorite places, The Gun Club……. She loved going there and seeing all of her shooting buddies and hearing the gunshots and having someone throw an empty shell for her to retrieve. I know that she may have gotten in the way a time or two and been told to move, but she was always happy to see everyone. She always watched for the ducks and geese on the pond and loved to run over and make them fly, and then watch them circle overhead…… I know there are plenty of game birds in Heaven, so I know she’s having the time of her life and waiting for us to join.............

That's an amazing send-off for a long-time family member.

I know you will never forget her, but I hope it gets less painfull soon.

Ol' Bailey was as much a part of THT as any other human forum member. We are very sad for your loss and wish you all the best in getting through this. Labs are particularily tough as they are really a good person inside a dogs skin.

Hang in there and realize you did what was best for Bailey!

Sorry to hear about your lose Bill, notice I said Bill Bill. I've never had a dog but with everything I've read here in THT it has to be a gut wrenching experience ...... I hope you gave Bailey a nice place to rest.

Its a hard thing to loose a good friend/family member. Hang in there, and keep her memories alive. You'll always have them. Remember - all dogs go to heaven!

Oh, man....I'm so sorry, Bill. I know she was such a great family member to you and Laura and all those that actually knew her "in person". I know most of us here on THT FELT like we knew her.

Heart felt hugs and prayers comin' your way.

Sorry to hear of your loss Bill. I have had to put down (euthanize), a few canine members of the family over the years and it's never easy. Savor the memories.

Very sorry for your loss, Bill. It's never easy losing such a close member of the family. I know it can never take the place of Bailey, but hopefully there will be a new pup in your life.

So sorry to hear of your loss. There's nothing like losing your best friend and hunting partner. Pherhaps these little stories will help....

"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog." - Gene Hill

>"This is Heaven, sir," the man answered.

Bill, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know that you and LJ have been concerned about it for a while.
I regret that I never got to meet Bailey.

I know there are plenty of game birds in Heaven, so I know she’s having the time of her life and waiting for us to join.............
She is in good company. I am sure that Bailey and Tangerine are up there chasing each other around right now.
