Default Covid has hit my house

Looks like my mother-in-law is source of infection. Apparently she was exposed before Christmas, unbeknownst to me and previously tested negative. She fell on Monday 1/4, I went to check on her, only find out Wednesday 1/6, is now in hospital and has tested positive. I wore a mask at her house as did the Fire Department.

I tested negative on Thursday, 1/7, and was hoping to be ok.

Friday, 1/8, MIL tested negative. I’m thinking I may be ok. Not my luck.

Wife who is an RN, and had first round of vaccine on 12/30, helped her mother on Tuesday -Wednesday, and tested positive Saturday 1/9.

Now I’m quarantined at home. Thought about moving to hotel rather than other side of the house, but thinking it’s probably too late.

Clarify for my curiousity's sake......

Are you saying your wife was vaccinated on 12/30 and then she tested positive on 1/9?

Is this because she didn't get the 2nd dose yet? Why would she test positive? Is it because of the vaccine in her system?

Anyhoo, hope you and your family make it out alright.

She was vaccinated 12/30, exposed to her mother 1/5-6, mother tested positive 1/6, she could not go back to work after being exposed, so no she did not have second round.

Her mother was contagious and likely infected her.

As a side note, wife did have a reaction 12/30 when she received the vaccine.

I hope all goes well. But now you have to elaborate on reaction.

She had a 101 fever and felt bad that evening. Next day went to employee health and they ruled it as a reaction to vaccine & had her report to work Monday AM.

Hope everyone does ok.

My wife is an RN. Has been exposed God knows how many times at work but doesn't have to "quarantine". Yet, be exposed outside work and they want her to "quarantine".

Yes, my wife is RN & daughter is Dr, both have been exposed multiple times at work by patients & fellow employees.

I guess our “date with destiny” finally caught up with us. Fortunately my daughter’s remodel is complete & she is safely away from us at her house.

It takes a couple weeks for you body to get an decent immunity responce to the vaccine, and levels increasing after second shot. They numbers they are stating is that it's 95% effective, so some will still get sick after shot (just like flu).

You're obviously still alive and able to type on the keyboard. So what's the issue? You caught a cold and decided to tell everyone about it?

Seriously, not trying to be a jackwagon, just really curious about the post.

My son is in firefighter school.and has a weekend job at big hospital doing covid testing, probably 300 people a week, though not all are positive, no need to quarantine him...

Link to gofundme account for those two or three days where you feel a little under the weather.

And yes, I had it back in November and miraculously survived.

Just sharing my experience. I don’t have any symptoms, and hopefully won’t catch it.

There clearly seems to be different protocol to being exposed at hospital than away from work.

I guess the “jack wagons” that have only been on here a few years don’t understand that some of us share our experiences and not just hang around to be keyboard critics

There is no scientific study or evidence that proves that the vaccine prevents you from getting Covid. The efficacy is to prevent "mild or severe symptoms". The trials were not studying the prevention ability. Currently the consensus is it will not prevent catching or spreading covid until there is evidence that proves otherwise. To believe it does would be a potentially dangerous assumption. They hope to learn more as time progresses and millions get it. The vaccine isn't a final stop solution, its an experiment.

Jackwagon status- accomplished.
My wife has it now (since 12/31/20) and for her, it is WAY WORSE than a, "cold".
Last night was bad enough to take her to the emergency room.
Lucky everything checked out but the way she was feeling, it was scary bad.

Hope you stay safe.
All I can do is stay in a different part of the house, wash my hands and wear my N95 when taking care of her.... then go wash my hands again.

Quarantined here.

Should have results today. Was exposed for 4 hours on Saturday.
