Best place to buy cigars

I just ordered my February ration of 'JR Alternatives' and Romeo Y Julieta's from JR's... Was thinking I've been buying them there so long, maybe there's another place I don't know about...

Am I missing anything?

Last order was from cigarsofhabanos.com.

I just hate Cohiba's. We almost named the dog that.

Garanteed delivery. Cuba-Hong Kong-Spain-my door. Still fresh. Had a part of an order that arrived prior. They were dry and cracked. Replaced with no BS for free.

There has been a lot of problems with cigars of habanos lately.

Thanks for the update. The problem goes round and round with all these "importers". Same thing happened to habanos, com a few years back. Who's leading the good guys lately?

try Holts.com, they are local here in PA and have a great selection. The house brand, Holts, and the Ashtons are made by Fuentes...good stuff

Do yourself a favor, try one Joya De Nicaragua. They are available in the US, and the cubans that make them have been doing so since a long time before they left Cuba.

I've recently quit smoking cigerettes and switched to cigars....getting educated, it's like learning about wine.
Got a deal on a humidor from Thompson in Tampa and bought some sample packs...seems like a good outfit.

I shop around and buy a few cigars here and there but I am reminded over and over again that JR usually has the best deals.

I love stopping in one of their stores when I go through that area and drop a couple hundred. When my stock runs low I'll order from them by way of internet.

RE: Best place to buy cigars

J&R's is probably one if not the best places to buy your cigars. If you get a chance and are on I-95 stop at there store in NC. Otherwise their mailorder is the way to go. There stock is so large, and they have warehouse humidors, that you are getting what you want. Thompsons I would not consider unless I wanted machine made cigars (Never.) As for Cubans, be carefull where you order them from. 1. Half the time they are knockoffs. 2. A quarter of the time they are rebanded cheap cuban cigars made with scraps, and the other quarter of the times, they are dried out garbage. IF you get them from Japan, Aruba, The Bahamas or Canada, half the time Customs will seize them from you, or worst. With so many good/ great hand rolled Dominican cigars, why would you want the Cubans, unless you are looking to self medicate yourself with the Cuban Cigar tobacco that contain the Lithium transfered from the soil to the tobacco.

Lithium in pharmacology refers to the lithium ion, Li+, used as a drug. Lithium is administered in a number of chemical salts of lithium, which are used primarily in the treatment of bipolar disorder as mood stabilizing drugs. They are also sometimes used to treat depression and mania. Lithium carbonate (Li2CO3), sold as Carbolith®, Cibalith-S®, Duralith®, Eskalith®, Lithane®, Lithizine®, Lithobid®, Lithonate®, Lithotabs® and Maniprex®, is the most commonly prescribed, whilst the citrate salt lithium citrate (Li3C6H5O7), the sulfate salt lithium

You left out lithium grease and lithium batteries. So you can haul butt in the dark...

So, is that the active ingredient in librium?

Most soil contains lithium....

Some soil contains more than others......

Plants take up lithium at different rates and it is quite varaible.....

To my knowledge there has never been a study that has measured lithium levels in smokers of cuban cigars.... it is likely that little if any lithium would be transfered from smoking...

Lithium in low concentrations has little if any effect on the moods of "normal" people....

The mystique of lithium in cuban soil and cigars is often repeated.... as it has been here....

I ask you to please refer us to a reliable source of information to support the self medicating theory....

Good Day.

Thanks guys, some new web sites to visit next month... I smoked cigars thru the 80's & 90's and went back to cigarettes in '99 :banghead: Back to cigars and off the cigarettes again  I was a regular with Holts, and JR's... The store in NC was a regular stop for me when it was still a converted gas station :o
I favor JR Alternatives, and for my special times and sharing, prefer Romeo's, Ashton's & favorite is Montecristo... all Dominican

RE: Best place to buy cigars

ES Fishdoc, who says we are normal people.... As for the scientific research/ white paper, sorry I do not have one. But there was an article in Cigar Aficionado a number of months ago supporting this discussion. Sorry, I don't save them, as I get older I tend to forget the important things, and tend to remember trivial things.....

If you truely want the Cubans, and know what you are buying, run out of fuel or have an engine issue close to the cuban border and radio for humanitarian aid from the cuban border guards . When they tow you into port, have pockets full of cash and start negotiating for cigars. Hopefully you will get out with the cigars. I don't recommend this though.
