Default Venting.... USPS sucks at delivering the mail. What happened to rain, sleet, snow...

How many of you are having trouble getting your mail delivered in a timely manner or even delivered at all? I sent a 2day priority mail package the other day and was informed after paying that it would actually be 3 day delivery "because of COVID" and it then took 5 days to get delivered. At this point I am being informed some packages are not moving at all and some businesses are seeing financial penalties and repercussions.

“No parcels are moving at all,” one postal worker in Michigan told the paper. “As bad as you think it is, it’s worse.”

Is it time to abolish the USPS as they cannot carry out the most basic mission they were chartered to carry out?

My wife was decorating our sign last week and the mail man came and ran over her ribbon and scissors while she stood there. He jammed mail in the mailbox right in front of her and dropped some that wouldn't fit on the ground and drove off. He could have just handed it to her. Yesterday he left a package at our house for an address 3 miles away. Frequently he leaves our neighbors mail at our box rather than drive to there house, leaving us to deliver it the last mile. No fruit cake for him this year. I thought Unions were supposed to ensure QOS. Apparently not the APWU.

Tell us your recent postal nightmares, misery loves company.

Apparently the virus went after the USPS leaving fedx and ups alone as their packages have still been flowing like clockwork. Does USPS not have a casual labor force for peaks? I know I worked for USPS one summer as a non union filler and it was a great job. This was in the mid 80’s and had to be making low teens, maybe it was 12 something an hour as a filler. It seemed like such a nice small town gig that I seriously considered nixing college and being a mail carrier.

USPS has been this way for years, it's just getting worse & they just do not seem to care. If you pay for a scheduled delivery, they will say it's an "estimate", not a guarantee. 8 years ago, lost out on a large purchase (over 150k) due to their inept business practices. Paperwork & 25 percent deposit was sent "overnight" & supposed to be in their hands by 10 am the next morning. Took them 5 days to deliver it & it was refused & sent back due to being so late.

I’ve NEVER had a problem withUSPS except once. Happened to be a windy day and the carrier didn’t shut the mailbox tightly. Some important mail was lost.

Yesterday my randazzos king cake was delivered to the neighbors across the streets house by fed ex express. We were sitting on the porch sunning our dogs and the Mrs said that looks like the box I ordered for you. I was oblivious to what she was saying. Later that evening mrs went to neighbors house and picked up my king cake off the neighbors porch.
why Mrs didn’t go talk to the fed ex driver is anyone’s guess. I got my king cake, neighbor is wondering who the woman in the mask is talking at the nest door bell camera pointing at a box left on their porch. Guess I’ll have to explain that one today. Expecting strange looks and a quip or 2.

i send/receive hundreds of packages per month

some issues with usps delays, one lost package turned out to be mislabeled by the sender

ups a couple issues with delays

fedex not one issue to-date, knock on wood, their ground service is priced well, some times faster than ups ground, and its reliable

of course for anything important it goes overnight/next day/express - no issues with those packages in my experience

over whelmed, under staffed, UPS raised their rates.

I have a small wahoo lure business and I tell my regulars I dont want to send packages after 12.15. I did send a couple that were a gift, on 12.19 from stuart to miami (100-ish miles). Still hasnt arrived. I offered to drive them (for a fee) or even send them via uber, but he said no, so I would not guarantee them by christmas.

Lol. Ours sucks. When we had a normal size mailbox she would crush, fold, smash any packages to make them fit to the point I had to use tools to get a package out one time. Then, I got the biggest effing mailbox I could find, the thing is cavernous, so now if a package still doesn't fit, she puts it with all of our loose mail (not rubber banded or anything) on our front stoop and I wind up walking around the neighborhood once a week picking it up off yards. None of her superiors seem to care.

My son ordered a package from TN 2 weeks ago. Shipped USPS. Was stuck in Memphis for over a week and has been listed as "in transit" since then for a week. Was supposed to arrive last Thurs.

We ship about 2,500 packages a year by USPS and 1/3 as many by UPS. UPS has had some problems lately but nothing like the problems at USPS. Priority mail packages weeks late. Packages that have disappeared, we have reshipped at our cost, and then the original package shows up weeks later. Packages with correct address labels being sent back to us. Packages going from Philly to TX that are routed through Canada.

Our local post office is great and really puts in the effort to help us through all of these problems. Our carrier is also top notch and will go above and beyond for us. The whole system is terrible though. I agree, shut it down. The government shouldn't be competing with private businesses.

Have had some late stuff, but nothing more than a few days. Best I can tell, USPS does a reasonably decent job with small stuff that can fit in a mailbox. Vast majority of the issues I have had have been with one very incompetent mail carrier who is too lazy to get out of her car to deliver packages like every other delivery service on earth seems to be able to do, and addressing said mail carriers incompetence with an even more incompetent local post master who evidently has standing orders from the postal workers union to stick up for carriers no matter what.

About 45 min down the road where most of my family lives, one of my cousins caught the mail lady kicking his cat on his security cameras. Not just a nudge, like rared back and kicked it...could have done some damage. Cat wasn't doing a thing...just sitting on the ground near the front door. Needless to say that got reported to the local post master, and the carrier got suspended for a few days and assigned to a different route. She then proceeded to start a rumor around town that he was having an affair with his office manager at his dental practice. Her life is getting ready to get miserable.

During the pandemic, the amount of shipping has gone up tremendously. Tack on the fact that it’s the holidays and it’s even greater.

Consider that staffing, which is always an issue, is made worse by COVID, so replacements are less experienced.

And are you forgetting the mayhem DeJoy caused? Yes, that was called out, but some of the decommissioned equipment was never recommissioned.

It has to be a government employee thing. The service inside a location moves at a snails pace, no motivation to offer real customer service, people taking breaks when lines are out the door and no idea how to handle Christmas volume after a century +!

Priority bulk, priority plus, priority Express all means at their priority, not yours.

Maybe someone took the package off your door step, they didn't think it was stealing 'cause you left it out there.

I am waiting on a priority package that was labeled on the 16th and is still not here on the 23rd. I think it may come tomorrow.
