Default Broken Laptop LCD screen-any advice on replacement source

Steady hands here dropped the laptop and cracked the screen. In searching the net through this funky looking screen, I came across Screentek that listed my model no. I call them as their website advised. They didn't have item but they offered a substitute they said would work. Anyone have any insight on purchasing an LCD screen or experience with Screentek or recommend someone?

Computer's about 2 yrs old (I know ancient in computer years) but I'd rather fix it than buy new and move data. Screen quote is only $295.

Thanks

What make and model? I have a laptop at home in the closet and I believe the motherboard and other internals are junk but the screen (attached) is fine. Yours (you pay shipping) if it's the same Dell model.

Thanks much for the offer, but its a gateway..the screen is an LP150X08 -A2 or -A5 depending upon which code I want to believe. Per Screentek the -A2 or -A5 doesn't mean much and I have no clue if it does or doesn't.

What model Gateway? My Gateway notebook just died and I will sell the screen on eBay.

It's a 4520GZ - 15" screen.

I don't have the computer with me - it's at the shop having the harddrive transferred - but I think it is a 4520gz, that certainly sounds familiar. I will know for sure tomorrow.

If he's taking the screen out have him get the no's from the back of the screen. So far, I've learned that mfg & model no isn't enough, units can have different screens that would have different plugin pins. Thanks.

Many laptops can support a remote monitor, even a CRT. You can those really cheap (CRT's are frequently free if you dont mind 2nd hand) but then your lap-top might as well be a PC. This might be a usefeul interim solution until you find exactly what you need.

Good luck!
