Default FedEx Shipping

Anyone here work for Fedex? Wondering how an item going to Yardley PA (North of Phila) can ship from Avondale Pennsylvania (South of Phila) go to a Philadelphia hiub, then be sent to Hagerstown Maryland before going back to Yardley PA? So this shipment has gone north, south, then north again -
Good thing it not perishibles

My wife and I talked about the same thing today. I had a package being sent to me from about 25 miles away. It went south first 200 miles then North 250. I should get it tomorrow if all goes well.

I know it about hubs but it just does not make sense in my mind. THEY DO GET THE JOB DONE. way more than not

UPS does the same thing. I don't care how many miles that package goes as long as it gets to me fast.

We just ordered dog and cat food Friday night from Chewy, and it was delivered Sunday night. I feel for the poor package car delivery man having to haul those 40 and 50 pound boxes--for very little freight fees.

My company has had items shipped from Cherry Hill NJ to our location next to PHL (Southwest Philly) that go thru the hub in Kentucky. Considering we are about 5 miles away straight line is kind of crazy. UPS's is the same way

I live in Philly and work in Yardley. Give me the package next time I can deliver it same day for 10% less.

Hagerstown goes directly into their Horsham(or Hatboro??) distribution center which serves Bucks County. Philly drivers don’t go that far north so my guess is they needed it to go to Hagerstown to get to Horsham.

I ordered a custom machined plate for my drill press. Shipped from CA due Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Tuesday night comes. No delivery tracking says delivery will be Wednesday. 1pm Wednesday it updates to delivered on Tuesday. WTF? After contacting shipper and FedEx Ground plate finally showed up last Friday 17 days after their tracking software said it was delivered.

My guess driver tried to pick it up and said screw this I’m making it delivered and throwing it in the front of the truck.

Yep. Elimination of mail processing centers. We used to get baby chicks in the mail. No more. Just too many hops. Last shipment, half were dead because they spent too much time in transit. Really sucked trying to nurse the weak ones back.

No idea, but I grew up in Yardley (19607). Lived there from 1963 until 1979. Good friend of mine just moved there from Florida, by coincidence.
