Default Need A Little Computer Video Help

Here's the deal........

My son is a H.S. wrestler....For the purpose of scouting and practicing, I tape all of his matches and he and his coach review them. I have an absurd amount of tapes and I've been thinking to archive them, by opponent/match on my computer. I recorded the first tape with my DVR and put the disk into my laptop. Wow, great picture!!

Here-in lies the problem. I want to organize the matches by match......in other words, I don't want one 2 hr movie. I want each match to be it's own movie so I can label them by opponent and date and so forth. The disk I made is using the VRO format and windows movie maker does not support this format. I tried capturing the Video from camcorder to computer and the picture quality is horrible as compared to the DVR method.

Does anyone have any experience / input into this?

I'm sure that due to lack of experience I'm doing something wrong, I just don't know what.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Make sure your capture software is set to capture as .AVI files rather than Mpeg. Somewhere in the "preferences" section usually. Do you have a firewire cable or USB?

Typically AVI is highest quality but the files are LARGE. You should consider getting a large external drive.

However, after editing and outputting your production, you are back to a smaller, more easily stored format.

What weight class?
