If they can ticket you for not wearing a seatbelt...

I'm not a lawyer but it probably has to do with there being a law passed in regards to both. To my knowledge there has only been a verbal mandate about masks rather than something written into law.

Rarely enforced, but they can write $25 tickets here in certain circumstances. Thankfully the local PD and sheriffs department have little interest in enforcing such. State level law enforcement has made visits to a few high profile places that have pushed back against the mandates (mandates...specifically not legally passed laws) and issued fines when the local sheriff refused to waste time on the matter. They evidently felt like the establishment needed to be "taught a lesson" or something stupid. Establishment just put a "fine jar" on the counter and carrying on with life.

Driving on public roads is not a right, contrary to the comparison many folks try to make.

Seatbelt tickets are common in the west. Mask wearing should be a ticket in my view. We need to get this virus behind us and we lead the world in supidity and not wearing masks is the biggest reason.
Some people do not belive in death but in the end they get it.

My house and .71 acres of the American Dream? My bank, mostly. But I have a plan to make it mine.
And they sure as hell ain't coming out here to mow so it's mine by adverse possession anyway.
King of the castle son.
Edit: actually it's about half and half, but I'm taking my half and buying windows and some land.

Should I also get one if my wife (who I live with) and I are in the car together maskless? Do you also think they should come into your house inspecting for masks?
Not gonna happen.

I believe that seat belts were driven by insurance companies who were paying for the injuries that could have been prevented by the wearing of a seatbelt. The answer to your question is that insurance rates would be higher if people didn’t wear seatbelts, which means you would affect everyone through higher insurance rates. It probably isn’t that big an effect if you die, it’s the cost of paying for the injuries that has the major impact.
