Default who gets the virus vaccine first?

Hope this is not political- Mod if yes delete it/ ....my vote would be the health care people who have already risked their lives by staying on the job . after that who next? hard choice, grocery store "checkers" ? assisted living facility residents? or old people in general?

whats your opinion?

like the decision making question- who gets the heart transplant-
an inventor that has saved lots of lives , but is old---or a young person who still has his/her life ahead?

Here's the crib notes from the cited article above:
  • Healthcare personnel
  • Workers in essential and critical industries
  • People at high risk for severe COVID-19 illness due to underlying medical conditions
  • People 65 years and older
Seems reasonable.

In my opinion, healthcare workers involved in active care of Covid patients, closely followed by captive resident populations that are at higher risk such as nursing homes and homes for the challenged. Prisoners, first responders, and teachers not too far behind that. Not that I really care about prisoners, just that captive populations require special consideration, and there is a limited number of guards to go around. A guard shortage would not be a good situation to have to deal with.

I don’t think the issue is going to be who gets it first. They’re gonna make it fast and make plenty.

The real issue is going to be convincing people to get it.

I’m “eligible” to get one at the front of the line due to occupation but there’s no way in hell im taking it. To many unknowns. They can’t even tell you how long it’ll last, if you need booster or how many you’ll need to be successful. Then I was told how it works and manipulates your dna, no thanks, I’ll pass

See? This is the issue.

Who told you all this nonsense?

95% effective, it’s free, no major side effects and it DOES NOT “manipulate your DNA.”

What else would you possibly need to know?

1. Front line health care workers including nursing homes (but they'll have to go in stages because effect of the vaccine is like the virus for a couple days)
2. First responders like EMT's paramedics, firemen and cops
3. Everyone who resides in a long term care facility
4. People who have known issues that compromise their immune system like diabetes, chemo, heart disease etc.
5. Essential workers like mechanics, plumbers, HVAC techs, checkout cashiers.
6.70+ years old
7. 60-70
8. 50-60
9.40-50
10 and so on in descending age....
.
.
.
.
.
And finally in position 11,235
all politicians, career bureaucrats, bankers, HOA administrators and zoning officials

And that's after we sacrifice about half of them to the volcano just for good measure.

This is true. I read in the Wall street Journal that something like 64% of the population says they are either hesitant to get it or will flat out refuse.

20 million people should be able to get it this January (if approved)
5 million to gov, military, first responders, front line Heath care workers.
15 million high risk people.

17 million people over 65 in the US so just being over 65 isn’t going to guarantee you get it this first round. There are 2 shots. There is a big concern people aren’t going to go back to get the second one due to the side effects of the first one.

With a finite initial number of doses, I'm waiting to hear about us sending doses to other countries.

In any case I think the appropriate order of priority is;

1) Me and mine
2) You and yours
3) Everyone else who isn't a lawyer.

if I had my way all the governors who act like tyrants should get it last and the guy at the end of the line should be from the empire state.

First should be medical care folks, first responders, military folks. i tend to think you offer it to those in the service industry and logistics like truckers. Get small businesses open, get restaurants open and so for forth. We also need take care of high risk folks.

The wait staff at my local watering hole that serves fresh ground burgers rare should get it first because they've been closed since March out of concern for their employees and I can't take it anymore.

Then I don't care who gets it.
