Default Would you attend a wedding ?

Its at Christmas time and its a close family member. It requires air travel too. Mother of the bride has been planning this since her daughter was 5 YOA and she doesn't understand any reason. The venue can allow about 130 people at this point. The state web site says no dancing and it must be over by 10PM. Mother of the bride says dancing is fine and they are booked till 11PM. Would you go ?

No - because I don’t care for weddings, but the meme flu is not part of my consideration. There’s going to be lots of people that will or won’t based on their health, social credit score, etc... I wouldn’t base my decision off of what other random people on the internet would do - if you feel comfortable going, go, if not send a gift with regrets.

Covid plays virtually no role in my decision on this. There are very few people I'd WANT to attend a wedding for.....a few others that obligation would over-ride my desire NOT to go. Only you can decide if this couples wedding is worth the effort to get there and the fallout if you do not attend.

Or, you could tell everyone how eager you are to attend then 5 days before tell everyone how you just tested positive for Covid and regret that you can't attend!

This is the great thing about Covid. It gets me out of going to any family/friends social events I other wise would have had to attend

Probably not, just because I don’t like traveling for weddings. There are very few situations currently where the only way to remain distance from others is to not attend. I went to one locally a few weekends ago, and never once was forced to be in close proximity to anyone. The meal was shifted from being a Buffet to being a seated meal. It was no big deal whatsoever.

Hang on, let me turn on CNN so they can tell me what to do. I’ll get back to you shortly.

Keep in mind that virtually all of the attendees will be those who have become complacent about Covid or are just plain in total denial of its dangers. Don't even begin to think that they may have been as careful as you have been in trying to avoid exposure - and that statement applies even if you haven't been careful.

Despite what others may think CDC is still one of the very best resources we have for recommendations on how to control this pandemic.

The odds are high that out of 130 people, more than one will have the rona, know it, and go to the wedding anyway.
