Default Dang It THT!!

Was presenting in a digital meeting a little bit earlier, and our COO was present. Apparently, my personal email was running in the background, so what pops up in the corner of my presentation:

A THT alert that somebody commented on the drunk FIL thread. I tried to ignore the alert but accidentally hit the expand button. That caused my computer to glitch and share my personal email on half the screen and the presentation on the other half...then it froze and got stuck like that.

Probably not a big deal in the long run but it was pretty embarrassing nonetheless.

The funny thing is that they were turned off. My computer ran an update overnight. I guess that’s 2020 for you...

Microsofts updates are garbage. They should be ashamed of some of the stuff that happens with updates they release into production environments.

The look on his face was priceless. And he only barely caught it before they went live.

When presenting, try sharing just the app you want to share and NOT the entire screen. That way, with most videoconferencing software, they won't see any of the popups, even if the pop up over your presentation.

Sometimes I forget which software has which function, since I use Webex, Zoom, Ring Central, GoTo Meeting, and MS Teams. It's hard to keep them all straight.

Yes!!! I swear MS engineers are Apple users and therefore don’t actually use their own product so they have NO idea what happens after an update.

You do know about the THT Panic Button feature, right?

User CP > Edit Options > Under the Thread Display Options:

The Panic Button is an icon that resides at bottom right hand corner of each post. If your Boss turns up, clicking the icon immediately sends you to another URL of your choice.
Select the appropriate button to turn this feature ON or OFF.
You must be an Admirals Club member to take advantage of this feature.

Rule of thumb: Don’t ever use a personal device for work or vice versa.

Sorry but that thinking is very much out the window with all this working from home stuff. Unless work sends home a desktop, I have to use my personal computer. Just part of it these days.
