Microsoft Outlook is a great tool. You can set recurring dates, like birthdays or monthly meetings, one time events, etc. If you use Outlook for your e-mail software as well then you will recieve reminders every time you open the program that something is coming up. For business reasons I also use a PDA--A Palm Tungsten T5--so whether I'm at my desk or out on the golf course (I'm a Superintendent) I have alarms going off all the time to remind me of exactly the things you listed above.
