Default COVID19 in Europe , coming back ??

Please to not send this to the Bilge

Just saw nightly news and showing the resurgence of COVID in European Countries and looking like another shutdown over there

Do you think this will happen here???

Lost a college friend yesterday to COVID but in all honesty he has been on dialysis for 15 yrs, severe diabetic and heart problems. Went in rehab 2 months ago and contracted it in the rehab facility but in all honesty I am shocked he made it to 58 yrs old

Starting to see quite a few folks I know test positive(including 1 of my PT employees) but most seem to have a hard time for few days and then eventually get over it (like my employee )

Numbers seem to be dropping in our area for most part but in other areas seems pretty rampant

Honestly wondering if we will have a shutdown this winter if we follow Europe and seems like last time it was over there and next thing we know it hit the USA

And NO I am not one to believe the POTUS election will have an effect on it

Somewhat agree with you. Our 27 yr old daughter has a baby due in March, she recently had blood work and they told her she had been exposed but her and her unborn daughter have the antibodies to fight it off. Her Dr said he feels this is the only way we will get rid of it is for people to be exposed and unfortunately some will not make it

Numbers are going up here. My 18 year old son my have it, witch means I've been exposed. He's going for a test tomorrow morning. Three other people tested positive in his school this week.

There's no way in hell I would travel outside the United States right now. Getting stuck in a foreign country for no telling how long if they lock down.

I have spent this week in a remote video (actually Vidyo) review of a facility is Sweden, with participants from all over Europe and Great Britain. Their experiences were all similar, in that cases are on the uptick, either noticeably or wildly. France and parts of Spain are looking at lockdowns, possibly beginning this weekend. Germany will likely follow suit. Northern Great Britain is a hot spot, as is Geneva. However, Sweden will stay the course, so you have folks coming in on the train from Copenhagen to Malmo and Lund who start out with masks required, and limited seating; when they cross into Sweden, the train announcement is that masks are not required. Same train, same folks, different rules.

Just an observation/assumption....it seems like the virus isn't nearly as virulent as it was early on....many folks test positive or have been exposed with zero or minimal symptoms...recovery rate is still 99.4%?

Of course numbers will go up as things reopen. We just delayed the inevitable but now have better resources to combat the virus. As more time passes the survival rate should only get better.

I've seen reports that although the spread may be ticking up in some areas, the virus itself is weakening within the infected individuals' bodies...essentially it's not as potent as when it first spread.

I think some states will try, but compliance will be a problem. I think other states will quietly pivot to masks and hand washing in lieu of shutting everything down. And places like Florida will remain open.

I expect similar numbers of positive tests across the board. Deaths will depend on demographics, imo.

Wife’s girlfriend called today and said their numbers are on the rise too. Both she and her husband are in big UK hospital systems. High up jobs. For you that think these numbers are for the election I’d love to know what pipe your hitting on a daily basis, this gin is not hitting me that hard!

Numbers?

Virus?

Is still that virus that has a 99.9x% recovery rate?

Or are we talking about heart disease or cancer?

Doesn't guarantee anything. My 18 year old tested postive on dorm move in on a Sat in Aug (results on Sunday). I had spent most of Wed-Fri with him at my 93 year old fathers place, spent a couple hours in a dorm room moving him in on Sat (no masks) he was in hotel room Fri-Sun with us except when at dinner. Wife and I didn't get it (tested later in the week, never had symptioms). He had a friend over on Tuesday, friend and his GF both got a little sick and tested postive so pretty sure his test and retest were valid showing his infection.

Since there is no cure or vaccine, it is highly likely the virus will infect 70% of the world population. This is just a matter of time, and a statistical certainty.
Political adventures have never stopped pandemics. Political attempts
will likely prolong the pandemic and counter intuitively increase the death rate over time.

Very bright professor told us the first week of medical school, back in 1973, that if any of us were interested in making a zillion dollars in medicine, all we had to do was find a cure for the common cold.
This is still true today. Corona viruses include common cold and COVID 19.

There is as yet, no vaccine for HIV. Many thousand new infections every year. There is no permanent immunity for the common cold.
Vaccines are a hope. There is certainty a vaccine can be made for COVID19. It's long term efficacy is uncertain.
