Muscle Spasms

Anybody have them frequently? I have one that runs from behind my right ear down into my shoulder. Right arm is fine and it is like sleeping on it wrong but amplified and it doesn’t stretch and go away.
Went to the dock and he gave me two shots on Tuesday which helped a lot but they started wearing off and the muscle relaxer doesn't seem to be doing anything of note. I am taking Mobil with breakfast and Flexeril before bed along with Tylenol extra strength.
Closest pain that I have experienced would be when I blew out L5-S1 and they raked the nerve with a needle when injecting Cortizone.
What are your remedies? This sucks bad.

I use to get them in my back, turned out my pancreas and was swollen and putting pressure on my nerves. Fixed the pancreas problem, no more spasms, no more back pain. I wish I would have know that was the cause for a number of years were it was a mystery.

There are a number of different sources for the irritation running from improper sleeping, inflammed lymph nodes, Torn ligaments, injured cartillage. All sorts of different things.
You really need to determine if the pain is musculoskeletal, or neurogenic.
Pinched nerves in the cervical vertebrae can give you similar symptoms.
Keep at it with a real doctor. What you have hurts, and is real. Unfortunately, unless something shows on Neck CT/MRI you will have to come to a diagnosis by excluding the other things.

When you get the spasm, drink a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar. It works instantly for cramps.
Just try it.
Muscle relaxants aren't the best thing for dudes.

Notice many are suggesting foods for resolution.... they’re right. Stay the coarse with the docs but also make an appointment to spend an hour consulting with a nutritionist. Our bodies always tell us when things aren’t right, usually with pain but not always. The hard part is listening.

Have you considered seeing a chiropractor? Yeah, I know many view them as quacks as I have for much of my life. However, this past June I started getting terrible muscle spasms on the right side of my neck shortly after getting out of bed each morning. I was sleeping fine but by the time I got down to the kitchen to start my coffee my neck would be in full-on spasm. I could barely turn my head and sitting at my desk all day only made it worse. I wasn’t crazy about going to my FP for muscle relaxers b/c I didn’t want to deal with the grogginess/hung over feeling it gives me (have taken Flexeril in the past). Got so bad I decided WTH, why not give chiropractic a try?? First adjustment he did to my neck sounded like a freakin rifle shot! I was sore as hell that night but he warned me that would be the case. Two days later I had my 2nd adjustment and the spasms started easing up. After the 4th, they were completely gone and have not recurred. I go every two weeks or so now for maintenance adjustments, it’s made a world of difference for me.
BTW - I was told by my chiro to never use heat on my neck. As he described it, when the muscles are in a severe spasm like that they’re very inflamed as are the nerves surrounding those areas and adding more heat just exacerbates the problem. He has me do a cycle of 20 minutes on/ 20 minutes off of crushed ice for an hour or so. Has worked pretty well for me.
I feel for ya, dealing with this truly does suck! Whatever treatment route you decide, I wish all the best!
