Default Where does an employers rights end?

My sister is a nurse. Her employer just came out with this directive. She can not leave her home county or the county she works in (next city over) for any reason including scheduled vacations, buying a new dog in the next county, you get the idea. If she does she has to take a 2 week unpaid quarantine. My feeling is this is absolutely ridiculous. So I guess you cant get C-19 in your own county? WTH

When this whole Covid thing first started and the hysteria started our hospital was trying to say the same thing. Only problem we have a lot of staff that live out of state (30 min away). So how the hell does that work lol we all got around it by...wait for it....not telling them where we went. When they ask the same questions every morning if we have left the state etc etc etc, the answer was always no

Turn off location services, pay cash, and stay off face place.

Are they forcing her to wear a GPS bracelet? If they told me I had to wear one, I would immediately demand to be paid 24x7 at my normal hourly rate until the bracelet came OFF or they could F OFF

Otherwise, how are they gonna know?

If a employee does not agree to follow ,just tell them you will not follow that directive and will find another place to work.
life is not that hard

but then a couple of weeks to hang around the house and take it easy after a vacation, does not sound so bad to me

Free will employee. Follow company rules or leave. Everybody sues everybody anyway.

My daughter has a similar rule concerning her employment with the Brigham and Womens hospital in Boston. Get sick for failing to follow hospital/employer rules and you must use holiday time during quarantine. (Not hospital covered sick leave) These "employers" have a responsibility to their customers to provide a "safe" product. The state of Mass. also has rules regarding visiting the state, or leaving the state. Breaking state rules would be the only way we could visit our daughter. Hence, we can't go. We don't want to quarantine for two weeks just to go to Mass.

We aren't interested in being liars. We also don't wish to jeopardize our daughter's ability to work.

There has been an outbreak inside my daughter's hospital. 30 some employees and 13 patients got the covid from one patient. The patient was receiving nebulizer therapy and the aerosol aspects of the care spread like fire to other employees and patients. My daughter has been required to get tested every three days for the last 14 days.

All you tough guys that would tell the employer to F/O would be looking for new work. Seems simple to those not involved, but the hospital has no choice but to abide by rules the state imposes on them. If you want a paycheck and benefits, employees must do the same.

So go ahead and sue all hospitals out of existence. That'll show 'em.

Let me guess, is this in New York?

I guess she could just lie to them, and if she gets fired try and fight it? Or just quit? Or just give into the demands and do it for "safety"

Just wear your mask, close your business, don't goto church, don't send your kids to school, don't leave your home county. All for "SaFeTy"

No this is in Wisconsin, and you bring up a great point about going to church, so if you go to a church in another county, (asume you live in a corner county) so they should be able to tell you , you can't go to church?

white lie isn’t the right terminology. Going along to get along is more like it. Stupid requests are not subject to receiving accurate responses.

Dam that sucks. And the thing is everything is crazy right now and with her being a Nurse different rules as we all know as its her safety and the patients.

Sounds like to me they really are trying to stop them from traveling distances aka going on a vacation or plane etc where exposure risk are greater.

Though call still has access to her county and the county she works in and honestly i don't go anywhere outside of that anyway unless i am going on a vacation. So i would not quit my job for this and i would offset my vacation or i would go on the vacation and take the additional time off when i return to aka quarantine. Honestly i can see there concern as we are on vacation now in the Keys and there are people everywhere from all over the place so you never know.

Municipality that I live in is doing the same with their employees.

I guess the employer's perspective is that they need to protect their other employees. They're not firing the employees that go against the policy. On the other hand, depriving an employee two weeks pay isn't cool either. How far do they have to take it? If they're already requiring to wear masks, why do they impose this additional restriction?
