Default Kids on the redeye flight

OK, I like children (have 2 of my own grown now) but why would anyone take young kids on a redeye airline flight. Flew DEN to MIA Saturday, 2340 departure, plane was full and there were a bunch of kids aboard. Of course I get seated next to a mom and her 2 girls, one 5 and the other supposedly under 2 (I seriously doubt that). The kids were tired, cranky and the 2 yo never shut up for the whole 3.5 hour flight. Other kids on the plane had their moments too. Was possibly the worst flight I have been on.

Parents:
If you are unable to calm your kids on the plane please stay home. We all know that you can't always calm them down, but please be ready if you can.

Babies need something to suck on on the plane so their ears will equalize, bouncing a crying baby on decent just annoys the baby and your seat neighbor. (This one was on the return flight from MIA to DEN not a redeye).

Book seats near the back of the plane, so that maybe you can stand up in the rear galley are and walk the baby a little.

The crying baby on the MIA-Den flight really messed up the nice tequila buzz I had going.

Noise cancelling headphones, Pandora offline mode, and a double. Money well spent.

Get a private jet.
Problem solved.
No more crying...from either one.

This is the worst flight you've ever been on? You don't fly much, do you?

With kids you just never know. Our daughter never cried much and never really fussed either. Mother and Father-in-law invited us out to a very nice place to eat. Couldn't find a sitter so we took our daughter with us. The minute we walked in she started crying and wouldn't stop. We took turns sitting outside with her. One time thing never happened again.

Maybe mom can’t drive the kids however many thousand miles that is. You don’t know the circumstances. Get some good headphones and chill out, Karen.

Yeah... took a red eye last year from Denver to Newark with my two kids. it sucked.

Know why we were on that flight? Because our direct flight from San Diego the day before was cancelled and the best the airline could do for us was San Diego to Denver, wait 3 hours, then get on board again and fly home...

Yeah... so sorry..... Just an FYI... the flight wasn't a whole heap of fun for me either...

That just comes with flying PAX Airlines these days. You can try First Class to better your odds but with today's fleet of aircraft most domestic flights board just aft of the cockpit so you still have to see all the poor people traipsing down the aisle.

THIS! Bose Quiet Comfort headphones were the best investment I made as all my flights arrive or depart Orland International! I even buy new packs of thick beef jerky and offer it to those with screaming babies. Chewing on beef jerky always helps pop their ears.
