Default Carolina BBQ In Charleston?

Long story, but the OBX trip with my son got screwed up when we lost the transmission in the ole 72 Blazer. Enter rental car and us driving down to Charleston while its being rebuilt. We took a detour to meet a friend who needed a high performance outboard lower unit I had. At least we met up with him before the old gal gave up.

I was looking forward to some REAL, Eastern NC cue, but maybe something close is available here. Anybody have any recommendations?

what route are you taking to get there. Likely lots of options on your way as well.

Rodney Scott's or Home Team.

I've only been to Home Team and it's really good.

Yes Rodney Scotts is good. Last time I was there no indoor seating. That was a few months back so things should have changed to full open just recently. Bring a gallon of his sauce home by the way.

Jim n Nicks is good. Full bar and good micro brews. Try the sausages. Field and Stream store is almost directly behind it.

Swig and Swine also good.

My son lives there and was at Rodney Scott's on Sunday - long line. He is a good judge of ENC que and likes his. Go to the original Home Team if you like bourbon. Huge selection. My son likes their que and the bourbon.

Sounds like Rodney Scott’s is where we need to go. Ate seafood at Hyman’s last night, and my son said he wanted landfood tonight.

Just finished a day of Patriot Point and a tour of Fort Sumter. We had talked about Patriot Point and touring the carrier a couple of years ago, so we made lemonade out of lemons when the tranny let go. Supposed to be ready tomorrow. Apparently it costs a lot more to rebuild a TH350 in this area than it does at home, but a man’s gotta... pay what a man’s gotta pay. Looking forward to getting it back vs driving thus Hindu.

Id go to 82 Queens and Poogans porch if I was in that area of town.

Keep in mind that Rodneys is on the edge of the decent edge of town. Go in daylight if you can. Park across the street in the grocery store parking lot.

I just looked at their menu, and I think it looks better. Its on our side of the bridge, its less expensive, and they have Brunswick Stew! Think well try that instead.

Excellent, enjoy!

For those not in the know: brunswick stew is a nice little cheat code for you - a way to get more pork and/or chicken onto your plate and into your belly.,

Rodney Scotts is the best pulled pork in town in my opinion. All my friends go to Home Team to drink, socialize, and maybe eat some wings. Home Team is known for Game Changers and wings.

IMHO if you're looking for the best smoked meat Lewis BBQ's brisket is out of this world.

Lewis BBQ is the best on the peninsula, but the Park Circle neighborhood up in North Charleston has a pretty legit restaurant scene. Evo Pizza is very good, and their bakery in the back is also quite excellent. The almond croissants there are on point.

Boys, lemme tell ya, that was some good stuff. I had the option of 8 ounces and two sides for $14.95, or a whole pound with no sides. I may be dumb, but I aint stupid. Ordered a pound with pepper vinegar sauce, and a bowl of Brunswick Stew. The Carolina boy in me was tempted to ask if they could toss the pulled pork into a blender for a second, but I resisted.

The boy got pulled pork nachos, and it was all outstanding.

Took a bit to get to it, but that was a great story.
Definitely a stop if I am in the area.
