Default Digital Currency are we headed toward a cashless society?

Will the US usher in a cashless society by instituting a digital currency in the next 5 years?

for the most part we are cashless. when you go to the bank, you money is just a # in a computer. there is not a stack of money in the vault with your name on it.

with the debit card/crdit cards now days we are almost cash less.

i dont think we will ever be 100% cashless.

Definitely, maybe not 5 years but sooner than later. The new Allegiant Stadium where the Las Vegas Raiders now call home is 100% cashless. They have "reverse ATM's" where you deposit cash and receive a card to make purchases.

I definitely foresee cash being less and less of a component of day today society as time moves on, but donít see a willingness for a lot of transaction types to abandon it completely anytime soon. There are several businesses here in town that are completely cashless, and I have absolutely zero issue patronizing them. They are all restaurants or bars of some sort, and for them the expense of credit card processing is less expensive than cash management.

Not even close. I still use cash for almost all my in person transactions. Can't hack cash and get better deals. Bought a new utility trailer and saved about $60 paying cash because they didn't want to pay CC fees. Try buying a gun from an individual with a credit or debit card. Online there isn't much choice though.

one key reason I always keep some around. Never know when a deal might pop up. Besides, guns with no paperwork are far superior to guns with papers.

So you can still use cash. Just need to convert to a plastic card like a casino chip.

I agree many stores may be cashless but there will still be a means to use cash through prepaid card purchases.

Arguments that cashless is discriminatory or racist will guarantee a means to convert cash privately.

There will be constitutional arguments requiring the government to provide a means to convert cash.

Me personally, I am nearly 100% cashless. Actually 100% lately as apparently there is a big change shortage so Iím using a CC for a bottle of water.

I donít know about 100% cashless. Somebody asked me the same question the other day and I looked at them and said how will drug dealers and hookers do their transactions then? They didnít appreciate my answer. LOL

The Constitution could never require it. But such a law could be passed by congress, and pass muster as being constitutional by the Supreme court if someone tried to argue that it wasn't.

Same as a paperless world. Whenever anyone says the world will go paperless it's time to invest in paper stock.

Besides, how would drug cartel's operate without suitcases of cash. Imagine Tony Soprano receiving envelopes of paper containing plastic cards!!!!

In some areas, banks will not do business with you if your business is firearms related.

I haven't used cash since February, since all the titty bars are closed due to rona. . . That is literally the only think I pay cash for these days. . .
