Default Little League stealing bases

So!! Kids are 9-10yo and this opposing coach comes out with “the kids can steal two bases per inning”. Ok fine, half way through the game he comes out with “if the same player steels twice it counts as one” BS?????

Rule isn’t established by the league?

Two bases per inning is just that - TWO bases. If same kid, different kid, a rogue parent steal a total of two bases, that’s it, it’s two and done. Not complicated. Other coach is cheating.

Those rules are spelled out by the parent organization and should be enforced by the ump.

We’re playing teams in 5 year old t-ball where they are teaching them to steal bases. Kinda early if you ask me, but whatever...

How hard is I for a kid to steal a base in t ball when the other kids are watching butterflies and building sand castles. None of them can throw and none can catch. Ridiculous!

If I could do it all over again I would have got out of rec league and into travel ball with my son. I was dead against travel ball but rec league ends up being a complete nightmare that only ends when your kid ages out.

I’ve coached LL for years. Once the kids get into the 10-12 age bracket they should be leading off and stealing bases with no limit. If they don’t learn how to do that then they’ll be lost when they hit the Babe Ruth league or high school ball.

This. We left rec and all-star after 8u and went to travel. A 9u kid is old enough to start playing big boy rules. Yes. It may be hard to stop someone from stealing at that age but better to learn the fundamentals.

Little league has extensive rule books for all ages, some home charters adapt a few rules of their own,but if it's not formally adopted, the rule book stands. Better to teach the game within the game and let the kids know and use the rule book. Bunting, stealing, catching balls and throwing to bases is more fun than baby ball.

What kind of ridiculous league makes up rules as it goes?
or ridiculous coach for that matter.

We played 12U USAAA all day today. Steal as many bases as you can and all day long... no mercy at all. Its real baseball. Kids cry.... yet there is no crying in baseball.

We went 2-0 today. Seeded 4th tomorrow. Its a tough day ahead. gotta win 3 to get a championship. Wouldn't have it any other way.

this. Also, not following how any league above tee ball doesn’t have umpires.

Agreed, we waited a bit too long to get into travel ball. Should have got my son in at 8 or 9.
