Default Covid in schools?

This week in my sons school ( small school 170 kids per class) three staff members and two students have tested positive. Over the last two weeks that makes 8 people. And 50 plus quarantined.

What's going on in your school districts?

My son thinks with the current spread they will stop in school classes with in two weeks.

Wife was on quarantine for 10 days including labor day weekend (screwed that up completely) after being exposed by her assistant principal. 4 staff members so far in her school, no kids.

8500 kids in the district. 29 tested positive. 22 of them were in the HS which has 2500 students.

16 teachers tested positive. 13 of the 16 are at the HS.

Mines been in since mid august (private, NC) no issues at all other than he had strep throat a couple weeks ago. No fever, just off and on headache.

Went to summer camp all summer with at least 50 in the same building, no issues.

So far so good. Widespread social distancing and mask usage here. Hopefully light flu season too! Transitioning from half distant half in school to all in school next week for K-8.

All schools have plans to change to all at home if and when needed.

My wife has been back in class teach for over a month. our son has been back in school for over a month as well. The students have the option to do virtual. So the student population is split. It has been ok so far knock on wood.

1200 or so kids at the high school my boys go to. 1 kid has tested positive so far. We know the kid. The source was from her older sister who came to visit. Now the entire family is sick.

Two older kids are in class two days a week but they don't switch classes. They stay put and the teachers switch. Next week they star switching classes. Kids have to walk only in one direction down the hall so if you have a class two doors down you have to walk around the entire school to get there. HA. So far I only know of 1 case and it was a teacher.

Got a report yesterday from our Asst Superintendent for our schools , 13000 students

Keep in mind about 30% have opted for our Virtual Academy for the first semester

We have 2 high schools in our district and very first day of school we had about 30 that were exposed. to a male from one school while eating lunch. Couple of friends had their kids quarantined through 9/23(they were pissed at first but got over it ). Seems the male has a girlfriend at the other HS, fairly common since most of these kids are go to same churches, social functions, families , jobs , etc. Well girlfriend apparently tested positive and he went to school without telling his folks anything and was already having some symptoms. End of day about 20-30 kids at each school were quarantined due to being in close proximity for 15min or more

Also we have had 14 staff quarantined

None of the cases have been hospitalized and really not a big deal so far.

Talked to friend of mine that has a wife that teaches in another district , she was exposed as was he due to her. He said like a bad cold but worse part was they could not see their grandchild for 2 weeks Felt like his wife got it at school

Our daughter is an elementary teacher and 4 months pregnant, she had blood work done last week and Dr called her and informed her she had been exposed sometime recently despite no symptoms. He said her body had developed antibodies against COVID and naturally her baby was same so in her case may be a good thing

First case in high school announced yesterday and it's only the second week of classes. I guess we will know whether it is an isolated case or not within about 2 weeks.

its important to put a good face on these school openings at this time to present the illusion of normalcy. We need more parents to present normalcy For the time being.

What? We need to not discuss current events? In other words, censor discussion among citizens?

But of course. Don't you know that ignorance is bliss?

Does seem like people 5 to 18 don't seem to be getting it that much, must have something to do w/ the new protocols. Sister works at a school, 100% mask wearing required, has been back for 3 weeks. Zero cases.

Here's a place you can read more about this topic..

just for a little while.... tote the line.....

everything is great, wonderful, stupendous, fabulous. The bestest it’s ever been in the history of the world. We can doom and gloom it if things don’t turn out OUR way, later.
