Default Are any of you guys friends with Brett1?

I wanted to chime in to let everyone know he passed away Aug 24. I know he was active and had lots of friends here. He was a good friend of mine for a long time. It hasn’t been easy. Sorry I don’t feel like I can give any more details here on a public forum. Please everyone keep his family (especially his two boys) in your prayers.

Well, that is sad to hear.

Prayers to his family. Hopefully, it was not related to his former demons.

I did not know him personally, but followed several of his threads. Had a tough 2019 and was hoping he was doing better. It is very sad to hear. After the divorce and this, those boys really need the prayers coming.

Was there an obit for him? I didn't know him, but he had been on THT for a long time.

No sir. I think the family just wanted to grieve without all the attention. He passed two days before his birthday

Do I remember him being a lawyer who was very generous with his time to other members here on this forum?

RIP Brett Sorry to hear. Very sad. I have a family member in same boat. Not saying that’s what happened to Brett but have someone dealing with same scenario. Life’s tough brother. Prayers for the family.

Terrible news. I recall reading Update 2 and thinking it didn't sound great. Damn... Hope his boys can find some peace and bright days ahead.

This is shocking. Yes I remember him from the early days. Fundraiser for some sort of lost or stolen outboard, making it big as an attorney in Florida, buying yellowfins and nice cars, moving to CO I think? then losing it all.

Very sorry to read this. Condolences and best to the family.

I had remembered his first update but missed this one around the holidays I guess. Specifically to the few posts at the end that jumped on him for not taking responsibility, you boneheads must not have seen his first update and took things out of context. Take a little more time before you jump on someone in a vulnerable spot in life. Brett1 (I don't think I know him or ever met him outside THT. His story was interesting and he lived in an area I know well) clearly took the blame for his situation if you follow the story. He even noted in update2 that he was working the program (12 steps) which means he was working on accepting the part he played to get him where he ended up. Update 2 had a somewhat positive outlook to it but came from a very dark place. he had gone through so much and was seeing the other side of the mountain only have his rock (one of the reasons for rehabilitating himself) drop another bomb on him. Those people that piled on should have been more compassionate. I only wish I would have seen update2 and been able to follow those selfish posts with a better message. How hard would it have been to just say "Brett, just look at it this way, she must think you have turned the corner in your growth/rehabilitation to the point that you can handle her leaving at this point in your life! You must be doing great taking care of yourself. Keep that chin up and continue to rise!" We may still be here today in the same place but I bet you would feel better about yourself without those harsh words. RIP Brett1.
