Default Costas - these cannot be real...

Okay, I took a chance and click a "83% off" ad on Costas.. thinking, "paypal.. if they are fake, I can get my money back, right?"

Here's the thing... I was all ready to file a dispute with Paypal. They arrived, pretty fast (shock)... but I went to the Costa site to see what they "should" look like and .. holy cow, they ARE real.

Geeze.. I have a pair of Costas that are 21 years old. I love them. They are Eliminators or Terminators.. I forget.. heh.. but, these look like $3 glasses now.

I mean the packaging is the exact same as Costa.. if they are knock-offs, I get it.. but I am looking at the site and they look identical to these. The lens are a cheap plastic but seem to be effective...I am just comparing them to my old pair and the difference in quality is mind boggling. If these are in fact real... is this the "quality" of Costa now? All plastic design?

I need to go to Academy and compare this Fantail to their Fantail.

Are the lenses etched with the costa logo and lens type?

Yes, says 580P

They look authentic and, well.. I get it too.. I am loving my old glasses. As I put these on, they "feel" different, but. I think I was shocked. The "hinges" are encased in the plastic... does not make them worse, simply made me think they were cheaper, but still shocked heh.

They may grow on me, but 30 bucks....if they are real... well, hell of a deal, but man. Times have changed :P

Chinese probably make the real ones. Why couldn't they just as easily knock them off? Might even come out of the same factory.

$30 fantails?

Gonna need you to post a link lol

They're definitely not what they used to be but KBH is probably right. Chinese manufacturer is cutting out the middle man. I'd buy some $30 costas

Take better pics. Looks fake, real Costas have metal hinges, also the lenses should be etched 580P for plastic, or just 580 for glass.

I have 3 real pairs of Costaís in front of me. Not a single pair has metal hinges.

Not saying these are real, but....

Costa lens are also not from China. They are from Italy or France. Frames are shipped from China to the US, Lens are also shipped to the US, and are assembled here.

Hard to say for sure but where the Costa is raised in the ear piece looks different in the two in last pictures compared to the one in the OP

So, you are saying these right here are fake and the proof is the hinge is plastic?

Here is a close up shot:

I have a sweet set of authentic Koreaís I got for a song. Canít seem to hurt or lose them. My Costa frames fell apart from deet or sun spray, and the glass lenses were heavy and slid down my nose every few minutes when the rubber nose cushion swelled so wonít be buying them again.

I ordered mine Aug 30th and they arrived today.

I paid 32 and change plus shipping, I think...like 44 bucks actually.... BUT, I ordered black matter with glass lenses so if they do not send me the correct ones, I will dispute it with paypal.
