Default Wife broken down hauling 45' gooseneck horse trailer to Wellington FL. Exit 68,SC

"reduced Engine Power" just came on. Can't go over 40 mph.

2018 GM Duramax

I need a mechanic or maybe even a truck. Horses on board.

Please help. Exit 68 off 95.

Canadys! Best of luck, there's a decent sized truck stop there.

Safest spot will be exit 57, hang a right off the ramp and pull into Walmart. All mechanic options will be there. If the horses are ok overnight in the trailer only good hotels are exit 53. Any of the ones right by the highway are ok. Cracker Barrel with truck/trailer parking there. Chevy dealer in town, and lots of horse people. Make a call to the ace hardware for guidance on horses when they open.

bentons feed also a good source for what to do with horses short term.

steer clear of the circle c truck stop. Sketchy AF. Pilot or flying j (whatever it is now) in st George isn’t horrible, but more diesel support down at 53/57 in Walterboro

She's broken down on 95 in SC or Florida? Making sure... seems some confusion.

If she can get off I-95, take SC 61 toward Charleston, then right on US 15 to Walterboro - probably less than 15-20 miles. There are motels, and as said, dealerships. Probably can find some horse friendly people.

I think the truck might need DEF fluid. When that fluid is low, the truck will first give a warning, then limit the speed, and eventually, fail to restart after shutting down. I’m no diesel truck expert, but I just learned this lesson in a small RV. I’d suggest that your wife keep the truck running, and head to a safe location where she can safely park. DEF fluid is readily available (Walmart?), and I bet you can call somebody to fill it for her, and she could probably google how to fill it herself. I believe she will need to shut the vehicle off for an hour or so before the fluid can be filled, but I’d suggest she keep it running (for safety purposes), until she knows that she can find the DEF.

Again, I’m no mechanic, but your wife's situation nearly duplicates my recent experience.

Best of luck.

Reached out to a friend. She will use their truck to finish trip to Florida. She was getting a Regen smell earlier. My guess is DPF is clogged. Going to get horses delivered and deal with truck tomorrow.

I am probably 45-60 minutes from exit 68. If you need help getting the truck moved or whatever, let me know. I should be able to get there tmrw.

I PM’d my cell number.
