Vacationing with Kids is Hard

I’ve realized it now and can confirm with my father... 95% of the vacation isn’t for you as the dad. You are the one who needs to make the vacation happen for the family. You probably have to book it, plan it, make sure everyone is ready to go, drive wherever, get things ready, put things away, etc...
I have a 6 and 7 year old (both boys). Vacations are kind of like the wrestling royal rumble just in a nicer location.

I enjoyed at-sea days on a couple cruises....particularly because there is nothing that has to be done. Days in port are hectic....but sea days are great. Sit in one spot if you want and do nothing at all. Dont even have to concern with food.

I can back those statements up. With all the planning I've done for our vacations - even prior to kids, I'm confident if my day job falls through I have a promising career in travel planning.
I make the bookings, get the camper ready, plan the menu, buy the food, plan our outings including the best time and location, etc, etc, etc. That's not to say my wife does nothing - she gets the kids stuff squared away, handles the dogs, etc.
Prior to kids we went to Europe a lot and I'd spend months beforehand planning things like train rides, etc. Once there though, no real itinerary aside from a few highlights.
Vacationing is stressful lol. Nah not really.
