Default Costa sunglasses with prescription

Was time for a new pair so I went to Bass Pro (4 miles from my house & the fact I wanted to try pairs on that fit my face best)
bought them with cheaper plastic lenses knowing I need to spent the $ on prescription.
Had eye exam late yesterday, have new valid prescription in hand. Place that I go to didnít really want to do the Costas because the feel I wonít be happy because prescription lenses are going to make frames loose some of its curvature and I donít want to change the way the fit my face. The way they are now they are tight to the sides of my head blocking out unwanted light & glare.
Called Costa for a list of their recommended places in my area.
Called 3 of them.
All can do them but itís a matter of turnaround time (10/14 days vs a month +)
One place said they can send to local lab but better option is they send them to Costa.
I searched old treads for Costa and got mixed reviews
So my Question is
Send them to Costa recommended local place and their local labs or have them send to Costa.
Thanks.

I had a similar issue. Cracked the glass on one lens on my sunglasses so I figured Iíd have them made into prescription sunglasses since I had another pair. Because of the prescription I need Costa wonít make them and none of the eyeglass stores I went to could guarantee that they wonít be distorted due to the curvature of the lenses. Also they all said that you can only get glass lenses from Costa so Iím left with a broken pair of Blackfins sine the Costa repair program is closed until further notice

Took my eye glasses script to local eye glasses shop that sells Costas. Picked out the style I liked and they called Costa while I was there confirming everything I wanted...frame style, lens color, tint color, etc. 2 weeks later I had my new prescription Costas. Wish I had done it years ago.

recommended labs and Costa will both provide you with COSTA lens in your Rx... this is the way to go- do not go to your local Rx and have them cut lens for you unless they are certified by Costa... otherwise you wasted money on Costas because you'll be getting a non-Costa quality lens.

Also- a little late now, but you seem annoyed by it- but Costa does outline Rx acceptable frames on their website- to avoid the issue you're having- of lens that are too curved.

another recommendation- if you still can- return your Bass Pro Costas and use that money to order that frame/color from your Rx dealer- or direct from Costa and have them do your Rx... and/or as whoever shapes your lens- to give you the lens they are taking out... they will just throw them away.

Costa is under the loving eye of Luxottica now (Oakley, RayBan...) and seem to be in a bit of turmoil- so I'd recommend the local certified Rx lens provider and unfortunately wait for their schedule.

I have a buddy that has worn prescription Costas for years. He would tell you to go factory. He had issues with a local doing a couple pair of his. One the lenses kept falling out and on the other the frames cracked prematurely. Never has had a single problem with the factory jobs.

this is such a true statement. someone close to me is a dealer. They are having challenges filling orders and merging with luxotica. It has been a frustrating few months for them. we are all hoping that the growing pains will end soon.

During my hunt for new prescription sunglasses, I emailed Costa and they stated that they will put in their lenses into frames that WEREN'T THEIRS if they were in good shape.

Go with a vendor that sends to costa. You want costa quality lenses in those frames.

I would agree with the above majority of going through a Costa Rx dealer if possible. If not an option through Costa a reputable optical in your area should be able to handle it for you and still provide a great quality polarized lens. Turn around time for many things is increased at this time due to known reasons and Costa has certainly been affected by the merger and headquarters relocation.

I overnighted the flames to Clearsight opticians in Fortlauderdale Florida based on recommendations, the fact they have their own in house lab and estimated time (less than a week).
Every place I looked into on Castaís recommended list and Costa themselves were 4-6 weeks.
Thanks for the replies.

Are they actually providing Costa lenses? If not you are only getting costa frames and not the benefit of their lenses. Iíd highly recommend not moving forward if thatís the case. And this is coming from some one with costa prescription.
