Default OK, lets talk SUNGLASSES

I have a nice boat and think Iím pretty cool, do I need Costaís? I am hard on glasses, Iím even harder on sunglasses, and I have a pair of these Unsinkable sunglasses with a good warranty their OK and not expensive, but are Costa that much better? I would ask this Iím the worst fisherman I know, so if they are going to help me catch fish because of water clarity viewing then probably wonít work for me. If they are just a fad thing, not really needed then probably wouldnít spend my money. But I do know when driving the boat my Unsinkable glasses are a little DARK. In the back bay travelling at a good clip with other boats and wave runners around I find myself taking them off to see better.

Any thoughts? Thx and stay safe

You think you are cool. You won’t complete the process until you have a pair of Costas and Yeti cooler.

Shady Rays for $48. They will replace them if you lose them or break them....thatís pretty amazing and theyíre awesome. I think the lenses are actually better than what Oakley uses.
Iíll never go back to Oakley again. after discovering these Iíve concluded that high end sunglasses are for suckers, like those folks who buy yeti LOL

I donít know what Costas are because I donít know what the fads are.
i like polarized wraparounds that have no color tint, currently wearing Suncloud Milestones, $35 to $50 depending where you buy them.

Costasí quality is not what it was. Pretty disappointed with my most recent pair. Sent it in for warranty work (rubber nose piece came unglued) and happily received all new frames (re-used the lenses) in a very short turn around time. With that said, the paint on these new frames is flaking off on every part of the frame. Even the blacked out logos have chrome showing through. As much as I like their styles, they cost too much to be subpar on quality. Planning to try out another brand when Iím done with these.

You can't call Costas or Maui Jim's a fad as they've been around since I was a kid and that was many more moons ago than I care to admit. If they're worth it or not is a personal opinion but they've stayed around all these years for a reason. Personally I like MJ's and have always had excellent customer service from them and I've always heard the same of Costa. Stay away from Oakley, their customer service sucks ass.

All the cool kids are wearing $10 sunglasses from Walmart/Target/etc. It's the ultimate move: showing you don't need expensive sunglasses to be cool.

:-P

Costa used to make great glasses with an even better warranty. Its wasn't just to be cool. Unfortunately, the quality has really gone downhill, and they won't stand behind their warranty anymore. They put all these bullshit rubber strips on their glasses that undoubtedly will fall off, and specifically exclude them from the warranty.

Hoping this is a troll post. If it's not... yikes.

That said, I've got a nice pair of Oakleys with their Prism technology lens. They are great on the water.

But I usually wear 'beater' Blender or Knockaround glasses. Check them out... They have decent quality and are $20-40 so I never feel bad tearing them up.

I've actually found that with RayBans, I never lose them/step or sit on them/etc. etc. because they cost too much. Cheap sunglasses I lose or break 10 pair a year. So, after two years, the RayBans pay for themselves. Not to mention, chicks dig 'em.
Sooooo....if you really are "cool", you'll have Costas before the sun sets. Otherwise....you're chicken. Y'up, I said it and the whole internet heard it. Don't make me "double dog dare you", because I will.

Costas are great. Price is pretty high. Maui Jims are also very good.

I have Natives and they were awesome. Great lens and a good price. Not quite as dark as Costas which I liked and better to read fish finders. They also had a repair option where you send it in and $30 they send you back out new ones. That all said the company has now changed. Repairs are not a option and customer service SUCKS. All online cant talk to anyone and the warranty process is TERRIBLE.

I want to try a pair of shady rays.

I have a pair of Maui Jims for at home use only, and even then I rarely wear them because they were more than $300. I bought them to make my wife happy, she hates the sunglasses that I wear, which are $50-100. I never wear expensive sunglasses to the lake, even with a neck strap on them, I wear $20 sunglasses down there. That being said, I did recently order two pairs of Shady Rays for $50 each, because they look decent and they basically have a forever warranty. So far, I'm happy with them, and I will probably take them to the lake with me, since I can lose them and get a free pair, after I pay shipping.

I am a firm believer in MJs, specifically their HCL glass lens. The glass can certainly shatter if dropped, but it is so much more resistant to scratching than any other material. Also, I can see into the water far better with the HCL lens color than any other lens. They're expensive, but worth it in mu opinion. I've had several pairs. One pair is over 20 years old and still kicking.

I run some Oakley's with the Shallow Water Prizm lenses. My eyes don't get tired after a day on the water with them. Custom ordered so they are totally unlike anyone else's. I'm sure I'll drop them in the drink someday, so I put one of those foam floating straps on. Really takes a sweet pair of shades and makes them look stupid lol.

I have Costas and Oakleys. My favorite pair right now is the Oakley Crossrange. They have the Deep Blue lenses, which is meant for offshore fishing. I can see the kelp pretty damn well on sunny days.
