Could some please lead me in the right direction concerning drug consortiums? I recently got my OUPV. People have told me I need to get in a drug consortium. Will the USCG contact me? Will I receive letters like when you get a speeding ticket from lawyers? Should I contact my local USCG safety office? Thanks!

If you are boarded operating and they ask your toast if you don't have it.
Yes, it is a requirement and recently being enforced.

You only need to enroll in a random testing program if you plan to use the license for hire/employment or just want to stay current in case of possible employment. The USGS will not contact you unless you mess something up!
Try the Maritime Consortium (https://www.drugfreevessel.com/). I have been enrolled with them for years and have had a good experience.

lol u got a good rate 90$ is what I am seeing. Do I need the pre employment? I have already passed the pre exam test. I am guessing I need to be enrolled in a random program. I have searched Consortiums on google , there are a bunch out there. The ones suggested on here look legit, some I have found look questionable!

They cover everything for the charter operators and is what the organization is about. The have a large membership for a reason.
National Association of Charter Operators.
Your pre exam test is good for 60 days last I checked

The testing program you want depends on what you intend to do with your license. Random screening is what an independent OUPV captain would enroll in to be in compliance for running charters. Pre-employment screening is what you want if you are going to work with an employer where you are an employee.
I strongly suggest you call and explain your situation so they can guide you.
