If I'm correct that is the Reisterstown Rd area that is in city lines. Unless it has changed it is a poor black community. Not likely to have many THT users there.

One of our service mechanics was on Reisterstown Road about 3/4 mile away when it blew. Scared the shit out of him, too!
Can't believe there was only one casualty.
Does Portland have natural gas??? Asking for a friend..............

Depending on the block could also have a lot of vacant/boarded places surrounding helping to keep numbers low fortunately.

Many cities in the Northeast have antiquated gas lines. Last year they finished replacing all the utility lines on my street. Sewer was 4 course brick from the 1880’s, the gas and water lines were a hundred years old as well.
I take my daughter for swimming lessons on Saturdays, the gym and this explosion happened on the same block. Explosion occurred Two days later and we could have very easily been driving in front when it blew up.
