Default Battery Charger Recommendations

My 26 year old Craftsman battery charger finally died, need to replace it. I bought one from Harbor Freight, it charged 1 battery & is no longer working.

Not sure if all new Battery Chargers have the sensor that doesn’t allow it to turn on until hooked to a battery, but really want one without that feature if possible. The Harbor Freight replacement is not sensing my dead battery, and I’m not trying a 3rd one.

Any recommendations, want to spend under $100?

Schumacher ship & shore is a fabulous value for its capability. I have two. Highly recommend the 15 amp version if you have any group 27 or larger batteries in your fleet.

Standard batteries, car, truck, boat, & tractor. Want an emergency start function & auto shutoff.

a 1-2 amp 12v constant rate charger works well to get them going. An old 12v “wall wart” works Really well.

Sounds like your battery is too dead for the charger to recognize. You can hook up a second battery with jumper cables to add more charge until the charger recognizes it and works.

I used to have a dual pro in my last boat, but now use a portable one from Walmart. When I was looking to buy they all had that smart sense feature, but maybe they still make them without.

Pretty much none of the modern chargers will charge a battery that is below 6 volts. You simply need to hook the charger4 up and momentarily show the charger over 6 volts and it will charge.A small boost box works great for that.
