Default Gobbledygook, from Texas?

Just ran across this little tidbit the other day, and thought I would share with y'all.

The expression "gobbledygook" first came into use during WWII, and is currently defined to mean "inflated, involved, and obscure verbiage characteristic of the pronouncements of officialdom".

Congressman Maury Maverick of Texas is given credit for it's invention. When asked how he happened to invent the word, he said: "Perhaps I was thinking of the old bearded turkey gobbler back in Texas who strutted around in ludicrous pomposity while gobbedy-gobbling. At the end of the gobbles there was a sort of 'gook' to serve as an explanation point".

So now ya know.
