I'm from Wisconsin. Get back to me when you know how to pronounce Waukesha, Oconomowoc, Waushara, or Weyauwega.

It is pronounced two different ways because they were NOT named for the same thing.

Too cold - I'll give you that for the months of Nov - Mar. Then again, they don't have 90's, 90% humidity, daily T-storms, or catastrophic hurricanes in July - Sept either.

No Saltwater - bad for 100 lb plus fish. Good for making your boat and engine(s) last more than 10 years.

Shitty BBQ - who cares when there's better cheese, pizza, sausages and beer, and pretty much everything else?

No one cares - I certainly don't after the OP got his answer in the first 10 mins and somehow this thread has last for four pages after that.

If SC the first syllable rhymes with pew, in NC first syllable rhymes with no.

Surely thats been said seventy times already.

I'm in west central Flaaaada and live in a town settled by a bunch of Czechs from upstate NY...

You gotta buy a damn vowel to say some of the names on these streets...try this one: Hviedslav, The name of the town is Masaryktown...that gets a lot of interpretation...I have heard Masarky-town for so long I think that's what I call it..

The Indian names are really tongue twisters...Chassahowitzka, Chocachatti, Locktsapopka,

I actually just came back from vacation from there, well actually Emerald Isle , but we always spend time in Beaufort while there. I have been going there practically my whole life, and the people there definitely pronounce it Bofort.

You got that right, but I gave up on arguing about it long ago. Too many people that don't have a clue as to where Frogmore is. I just chuckle to myself everytime I hear Beaufort Stew or low country boil...
