No I do not let it bother me when other people point it out when I make a mistake as I am use to it,my wife loves to point out when she thinks I made one.

Proper grammar and correct spelling make things more understandable. I read the posts on this forum, hands hovering over keyboard, ready to pounce. I feel it is my duty to virtually flagellate anyone who forgets to dot their I or cross their T (so to speak). Make your fifth grade teacher proud or suffer the consequences of my wrath. Then, I remind myself that the moment I actually do correct someone, I'll make an absurd error of my own and someone will call me out on it. I hate being called out. So, rather than point out your grievous mistakes, I just sit back and relax, mentally acknowledging the superiority of my intellect.

Carry on, cretins.

Get a telephone strobe light that can be wired in so when the phone rings it will flash and alert you.

All these replies and not one mention of the most abused two words on here: Loose or Lose.

"The Patriots are gonna loose tonight."

Verbal blitherings can be annoying too.

You's guys...
or
..., you know what I'm saying? This one really annoys me. It means one of two things to me. Either you think I am an idiot and cannot understand what you just said or you do not know what you just said and are asking me if it is correct. Either way is bad. A. I am not an idiot or B. think before you speak, formulate an intelligent sentence and speak it confidently.

I don't get too excited by poor grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. on public forums. I realize that many people are using their phones to post. Tiny, virtual keyboards, aging eyesight, and mis-guided autocorrect features exacerbate the problem. I can live with that, generally. Unless the errors render the text unreadable, incomprehensible, or unclear.

More problematic for me are the word salads, run-on sentences, and rambling paragraphs with no clear topic sentence or clarifying data.

Well-constructed, grammatically correct, succinct prose is a joy to read. The gibberish that some of my students and colleagues typically write is not a joy to read, correct, or interpret. Some of the MS and PhD theses (feces?) that I've had to read and edit have been utter nightmares.

Not one to harp on other people's lack of grammar but it is the obligation of people speaking or typing to be able to communicate in a proper manner.

My pet grammatical peeve is "try and" instead of "try to".
As regards ending a sentence with a preposition, I am reminded of a story about Winston Churchill. A woman complained to him about people who are guilty of that. His reply reportedly was "Yes, madam, that is a situation up with which we should not put."

"could have" can also be abbreviated to "could've", if you can tell the difference in verbal communication you are a grammar nazi.

When speaking or typing.
.... anyways ...
Where did you park at?

Just because something is incorrect by many people doesn't make it acceptable to the rest.

It's the spelling that gets me more than grammar. It's sad when you are looking for things on C-list, FB-market, et al. and you have to search for "fishing real" and "center counsel"

I sometimes find great bargains on Craigs list by thinking outside the box like that... can be an advantage.
