Default Norwegian Cruise Lines

Any body know some one working in norwegian lines with a little pull ??

My wife and I booked an Alaskan cruise to sail August 15th however after numerous calls to norwegian I was advised that if they did not sail I would be entitled to get my deposit of $2k== back I called in early july was advised that the trip was cancelled and if I wanted a refund I would have to request between the 15th and 17th of July my wife of 32 years passed away on the 11th July and under the stress of arranging a funeral in these Covid Times and cleaning house it slipped me i called again on the 20th and was directed to fill out a form and send it in which I did the reply was that the time for the refund had passed and i would be given a 125% credit towards a future cruise which i must use within one year.

I was looking forward to the refund to help me offset the $8k the funeral cost me any help would be appreciated

Unfortunately I'm no help with the cruise line but my heart goes out for your loss.

I went through a similar situation about ten years ago, reach out if you need someone to talk to.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I was in your shoes 6 years ago.

No help on the NCL side unfortunately. If you ever need to talk to someone shoot me a PM. There were several other members here who reached out to me who went through this.

Had the same issue with Norwegian and their unreasonable window of opportunity for refunds. They would not make any exceptions. We contested it through our credit card and got a full refund.

Very sorry for you loss

I would email Vivian and explain your situation. If nothing is done I would get on the NCL section of Cruise Critic.....NCL seems to follow threads over there. If your close enough you might want to pay them a visit

Heard today those getting the refund or requesting in the "window" its taking 30-45 days... they are hurting for cash, no doubt.

Normally, I'd suggest emailing the CEO and pleading your case. But the cruiseline execs just don't seem to care (personal experience helping someone).

I would contact your state's consumer protection unit / attorney general and file a complaint. I would focus on deceptive practices and short refund window, etc, if accurate. You can throw in info about your wife if you wish but I probably wouldn't. Then finally, credit card chargeback but I think you have to be within 60 days these days?

I helped someone recoup a 100% refund by them filing a complaint with the state.

A quick thought for anyone else who plans to cruise. Do yourself and favor and purchase insurance from a third party or thru your TA. Our typical cruise will run 3K-4K for a 7 day, it will cost you about $100 to buy cancel for any reason insurance

Well we had a trip planned for May 10th. We had the ins. plan. Norwegian canceled the trip because of covid-19. It's now over 60 days and the cruise line is still dancing around refunding my 13k.
I'm very sorry for your loss. Your not alone trying to get your money back.

A nice letter to the CEO and a copy of the death certificate may help.

Very, very sorry for your loss.

I heard most travel insurance policies are being written not to cover pandemics, covid, etc

NCL will be lucky to be around in 6 months. RCCL May absorb them or they will just go bankrupt. I am sorry for your loss but don’t expect much from NCL

Between NCL who also owns Oceania and Regent they have 28 ships in the fleet. Hard to believe anther cruise could absorb that in this day
