One of our sons had their annual check up with the pediatrician earlier this week, and we asked this exact question. His guidance was to absolutely get the vaccine. COVID 19 is a Corona virus, similar to that of a flu virus. The mostly likely bad outcome of the vaccine will be that that they missed the mark and or the COVID virus mutated a bit to the point that the vaccine is not effective. However, he did not believe the risk of harm from the vaccine would be any different than the risk of harm from the annual flu shot since the viruses themselves are so similar.

I will likely get it. But will rely heavily on scientific advice and specialists,I personally know and trust. Heard immunity is interesting . It is unknown if getting this virus gives and significant immunity. People have gotten it twice. Here is a short sweet discussion. So it is possible to work here and hopefully it will work; Heard immunity normally needs to happen very early and within months. Your doctor may be a little out of the loop, Moderna's RNA vacine is a new tech, no other RNA vacine s approved for human use.

There are 100 different companies using all sorts of different technologies. Who knows what will be approved for who and when, and what will actually be available when 7 billion people want the vaccine at once.

I think eventually it'll be a yearly 'shot cocktail' as in mixed in with your flu shot. 2 fer 1.

Those answering yes, are you comfortable with a 50% success rate similar to the influenza vaccine?
