Default Need a barber?

Probably not. Would it be nice to have a barbershop close by? Probably. I'm telling you guys though, if you don't support your barber now he might not be there a year or twenty from now when you wish he was. I get it too, it's nice to be smug and brag about what a good deal those cheap ass clippers you bought are but don't think you're going back to the same old shop you used to go to someday if you haven't been since the shut down.

Lots of dudes did. Barbers expect some to do that, just not so many and all at once.

Barbering is the 2nd oldest profession in civilization, been around for 7000 years. Hard times for some shops right now, but barbers will survive and flourish as always.
Its a growth business.

Visited mine Monday a week ago, gave her a nice tip. Need them to stay on business, hair cuts are cheaper than dog tags, and it was one or the other.

Old school barbers around are scarce. I left my regular barber years ago. Went downhill with service and time.
A great clips regular now. Lady was happy with a 100% tip last week.

Haircuts are soooo overrated.

Same for combs.

You can add them to the suits and ties and shoes list. They be for suckers.

My guy works in a shop with some relatively young guys who learned their trade while they were away at "college".

Have a blast going in there , have a few drinks, tell some lies and get a really good haircut.

I missed the atmosphere during the shutdown.

I go to my barber every two to three weeks. Same place as before, same conversations.

Haha. Had a guy work for me for four years that cut hair in “College” and after he got out. More than once on the job site I had him give me a cut if we were too backed up on a project for me to go to my regular guy. My wife called it a Puerto Rican prison cut.

My girl texted me that she was cutting hair at her place during the shut down so I made an appointment and told her I would wear a mask. she said whatever I was comfortable with. When I showed up she didn't have one on (which I suspected would happen) so I paid her as if she cut my hair and left. Bought a pair of clippers and did my own. Came out pretty good too. Her loss. I don't know what the future brings but as for now? I'm cutting my own.

Same could be said with all the local businesses, restaurants, hardware stores etc..etc....
Not just the barbershop.

I'm not smug and not once have I ever bragged about my clippers I have used for the past 20 + years ( except for now), matter of fact I don't think they were a good deal when I purchased them.
Haven't been to a barbershop since I bought my clippers.

I get the impression the old school legit barber (not beautician) is pretty scarce in a lot of places. I work in a shop with one other guy and that's the way the shop has been for over sixty years. It's neat because every month or two a guy will come in and say some version of, "Wow this place is still here? I used to get my hair cut here when I was a kid. My wife's been cutting my hair for 40 years but she can't do it anymore so I'll be coming here from now on." That kind of interaction will be coming to an end soon if business doesn't pick up soon because we're not making much of a living anymore.

Many many years ago, my kids came home with head lice. I bought some Wahl clippers and have never looked back. I have added a hose to them and now cut the hair of my wife, my sister in law and myself. Nothing nicer than a 1/2" crew cut.
