Default First world problem... well done ribeyes.

Spent over $100 on 6 really nice fresh 1 1/4" cut ribeyes at a local butcher. Father in law cooked them to well done then let them rest... had a help my son with something and he said he'll cook them to med rare... they were leather..
Rant over..

Curious to know what he thought about them? Did he like them and thinks he actually cooked them to med-rare, or did he know he completely butchard them?

I like rare or medium rare. As long as it is pink in the middle I can eat it. Once the pink is gone it's going in the garbage

I want to know where you got 10 lbs of Ribeyes for close to $100. Maybe it was just bad meat and kicked quickly? Has happened to me before with subpar beef. I cooked a dry aged ribeye and had the same thing happen. Damn things go from 100 to 160 in about 90 seconds on a hot grill.

That's it. Don't let him grill anymore. Reminds me of one of the times we visited my dad in the mountains. He wanted to make seafood gumbo since we were coming up from south Louisiana. He said it's all been simmering 3 or 4 hours and smells great. I said wait - the shrimp has been in there for 3 or 4 hours? Seriously? Yep.

Well let me just say shrimp jerky suuuuuucks. You have to politely to take over if you want to eat good.

Know I'm gonna' CATCH IT from you folks, but don't you like your meat DEAD before you eat it????????????????? NO PINK for me - doesn't have to be shoe leather, but I'm not into the red/raw thing! I think it has to do with how your meat was cooked when you were growing up. Dad and Mom ALWAYS had their meat "well done" and that's the way I learned to cook it.

I've asked on here before - do you guys have a 12oz. glass of BLOOD to go with the steak?

Regards,

We wont fault you but there is a reason most high end steakhouses wont cook their steaks well done.
