Default On the job facts

In the year 2004 , from The National Saftey Council'sinjury facts.

4952 workers died from unintentional injuries at work.

About 3.5 million disabling injuries occurred on the job.

The bac, fingers, knees and head were the body parts most frequently injured.

The most costly workers' compensation claims were for motor vehicle accidents.

Kind of makes you want to work by yourself.

A guy I know in the grading business had a trench box cable break and the trench box cut a migos head off in the ditch two days ago. He'll probably loose his business after osha and workers comp audits get through with him. I know osha will say the trench man should have been wearing a hard hat like that would have done any good against an 8 ton trench box.

Speaking of hard hats, did you guys know that hard hats "expire" 4 years after manufacture?????? I didn't until I had it explained to me by a very good site super last Friday. He nonchalantly picked up my hat and looked at the date stamp and about had a fit!!!!! He explained how to read the stamp and promptly gave me a new one and tossed mine in the dumpster....... I pleaded ignorance, which in my case was easy to prove.....

Having stickers on a hard hat is also technically a violation. However, they can be found on just about all of them.

I'm guilty of that my hard hat has gotta be 10 years old and has tons of stickers on it

Can't says that I ever heard of THAT "rule".....however, nothing surprises me much anymore.

Now - I'm "assuming" that this just includes the hard plastic hardhats and not the metal ones....??

I know - probably NOT.

Like BUGBUSTER said "they don't ALWAYS work in certain situations" ~
